18 May (Tuesday)

We drove up to Inverness, the biggest place we've been to so far.  Compared to the general flatness and 1-to-2 story buildings I'm used to in the American Southwest, it seemed crowded -- taller buildings packed together in a small space.  we did a little shopping there and had lunch at Burger King.  Having discovered the cottage had a VCR, we also hit the video stores and bought a copy of HL1 just for the occasion.  (Did I say something about being too much of Connor fans? *g*)

We then went a little past Inverness to Culloden.  Stones mark where each clan lies buried, with signs telling where different lines of men stood, and there's a large stone monument there as well.  Signs mark where the different lines of men stood.  It's a pretty solemn place to visit.  Signing the guestbook at the visitor's center, I got a shock: that very day, someone from Prescott, Arizona had been there.  (I'm an AZ girl myself.)
