John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra has recorded the
~Trilogy~ on the (Live) "Between Nothingness and Eternity", and studio
"The Lost Trident Sessions". His dexterity and imagination
serve the listener well. Since the three parts were not printed
in McLaughlin's own "John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra"
guitarists have had to put their ears to work for the intricate,
descending triadic patterns, odd metered vamps and a careening
melody ,here and there.

This vamp's soloing employs a trade-off between John McLaughlin and Jan
Hammer in variations of A Mixolydian,A pentatonic, and G pentonic
scales.
