My motto is ; 'Have Axe(s) will travel'.... borrowed from the 60's T.V. western 'Paladin'- starring the late, great Richard Boone. - Gordon Perry, pictured on 'My Treehouse' Looks alot like Boone did in his prime.

Hi,
First, I'll explain my 'nom de sta'ge'... it's from the Ray Stevens number GuitarZan, Obviously, but if you are not hip click the link for the 411. I don't currently perform the song so don't ask me to play it!! I do play some of the better 'Oldies' & 'Newbys' - Hate these words!

I'm a Semi-Retired, Rebel yellin', 40 somethin', Guitar-zan-pickin', On-Line Grinin', Non -12 steppin' Choc-n-alcholic,large Livin',Crazy Craftin', manic guitar mechanic down here in Savan'nah,Ga.

Just me and my main squeeze 'Layla'; a Canadian hand-made Dreadnaught, arguably compares with a medium grade Martin, I like to say, with built-in bridge pick-ups and 3 band equalizer made by Art & Luthrie. -I bought it because I thought the 'Art & Luthrie' label on the head was Arlo Guthrie's signature! - lmfao too!! - Layla... (Ya, from Eric Clapton's masterpiece of the same name. - B.B. had 'Lucille' so I named mine in like fashion - is that ok?... She is semi-visible on my lap in the pic above.

I'm now a Mac Daddy McC, peeps! Blessed with two fine, healthy boys. - hey, life really does begin at 40!

and I was born an Army brat at Fort Carson/Colo.Springs, Colorado and raised in the south. I've not recorded much professionally, but I have been around some & then some -Woody Guthrie style.

Here are a few quotes and stories I'll share with you....

"..and he opened his mouth and began teaching them..", from the Gospel of Matthew 5 : 2 - 17

I was not raised in the church nor am I a regular church attendee in a brick and mortar bldg. but I am an ordained devotee in the Church of Christ...I also can claim spirtual advisorship to several prominent international musicians and more than a few general scaliwags as their Bartender.

"..We are children of the Universe; no less than the trees and stars...and whether or not it is clear to you, the Universe is unfolding as it should..", from 'The Desiderata'

This is one of my best favorite documents from history. I came across it as a merchant seaman in Hawaii 1992. It was posted in a church bldg. at Fort De'Russey - in beautiful, Wacky, Waikiki - amid the all the monkey madness of owntown Honolulu,Hi.. Check this out now!... full Desiderata text. Print it and frame it up!

"..Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you, If you're young at heart..", from 'Young at heart' by Frank Sinatra.

The "Chairman" was my moms' idol and they shared a similar style and spirit.I was raised listening to her singing his and his contemporaries songs; along with rock-n-roll and just about everything else. I have two older sisters and growing up they were intsrumental in keeping the record companies in business. I found my middle sisters' clarinet one day when I was 11, managed to put it together and could immediatley play it -just a few notes, tho' mom was sure impressed. Needless to say I joined the school band and choir through the next 3 yrs. The guitar didn't come so easily but I finally began playin' my sophmore year in high school and is about the only thing I've managed to hang on to.

"..Quoth the raven..Nevermore...Nevermore..", by E.A. Poe.

Words my warrior/poet Father bestowed upon me after a stint in the mississippi correctional system. It is a chapter in my life that I'm not totally ashamed of because of what I learned.I was in my 20's at the time and came out reasonably whole, un-molested and alive, by the grace of god. Thirty-two other men & boys from the Biloxi jail fire (1982) didn't.

"..I know what I want but I just don't know, how to go about gettin' it..", from 'Manic Depression' by Jimi Hendrix.

He was the O.G. of music and is the Sgt. Pepper of my soul.Being Bipolar absolutely is a "Frustratin' mess".I was diagnosed with it in 1989.

"..I'm cryin' for you dear, You are on my lonesome mind..", from 'Tear in my beer' by Hank Williams Sr.& Jr.

Trail boss & Ramrod of my musical wagon train.I went to Hank Sr.'s grave in Montgomery,Ala. to pay my respects. Every Honky-Tonk Man should. I think of so many people when I hear or play this song - mostly I cry for my lost guitars.

"..And in the end, the love you take - is equal to the love you make." by Sir "Pauley" P. McCartney - with a little help from his friends. John & George - Ob la di bla da where ever you are mates.

I suppose everyone who has ever heard them is a Beatles fan, except for the singer in REM, mike stipe, and Andy Capp perhaps. I know I always will be. John Lennon is, - to me, a martyred saint. In my minds eye he & Mr. Zimmerman too, when they were in their prime, personified Jesus Christ. As have many people in history. My grandfather told me once that folks in his day used to say if you're waitin' on jesus - you're too late. They were refering to F.D.R. - So if you are still waitin' on jesus, he's already come and gone, he was John Lennon. People will be listenin' to the Beatles & Rock-n-Roll for as long as.... there are people.
