Lesson 5: Reading Scale Charts
Don't get confused
with this one... This is just another way of representing
the strings.
The square box
that you see in the picture below is what you'll be
seeing through most of these lessons. The leftmost line
indicates the Thickest E, followed by A, D, G, B, and
thinnest E. Similarly, the topmost line, marked '0'
denotes the 0th fret, followed by 1st, 2nd, 3rd , 4th
and 5th frets.
To produce a note, you have to press on
one of the frets, indicated by the fret number. If the
fret number is not mentioned, you can simply strike
the string without pressing any of the frets.
Such notes are called 'Open notes' or simply 'zero fret
notes'
