Legend of the Dragon Warrior: The Beginning

Chapter One: The Hero's Awakening

For centuries, the Land of Tristram lived in peace. Then a dark and powerful army, once sealed for centuries, began a fiendish march to take over the world. With the help of the powerful and evil goddess of darkness, they stopped at nothing until they will reach their goal.

The story began long ago when a 14-year-old warrior, Kyle, found his destiny. Although he was determined, Kyle was not powerful enough to save the world. But with the help of the other seven warriors, the world may be saved. Soon the warriors will grow stronger and wiser, and they would have become prepared for the biggest surprise of their lives.

Our hero awakens from his dream to find his house on fire! His own home is crumbling all around him. He hurries out of his bed to find an escape down a hallway. It is just unbearably, too hot for Kyle to stand. He holds his head up with his sweaty palms. While hurrying to an exit, he bumps into things because the smoke clouds everything around him. Over there, an exit, he thinks to himself. Just a little bit farther. Then with no strength left he collapses toward the ground.

Awakening again, he finds himself and the rest of town inside the holy shrine. The door is padlocking the only entrance in the building. He sees people with burnt scars, showing little hope, weeping. They probably couldn't stand anymore without going into frenzy. Down a stone staircase comes Kyle's sister, Nina, the holy priestess. She starts talking to the town and starts a big commotion where she is standing.

"We have suffered enough. I think I will take care of this catastrophe. With my Dragon Light I can stop Zog. I am the only one who can stop this force. Zog cannot keep putting misery in other people's lives." Nina said this with deep emotion. Suddenly ahe raises her arms in the air and disappears. She vanished and never came back. Did she stop Zog and his soldiers? Or did she just sacrifice herself?

Hours pass by and so does the fire. There is no more crackling or screams of terror. Without realizing everyone was put in a deep sleep. It was another of Nina's power. She put them in a sleep so they would be silent. The soldiers stormed out of town without thinking about the unburned stone shrine. The enemy couldn't hear anyone and thought it was empty.

That night in the shrine, Kyle had a dream about Nina. Nina was reappearing in front of the shrine. Eight mighty looking soldiers came to her. They captured her easily and took her out of town. Outside by the city gates, stood Jade, Zog's Lieutenant. He laughed in great pride of capturing Nina. Suddenly Nina disappeared from the soldiers' grasps while reappearing in front of Jade alone. Jade made a gesture to the soldiers, and they went into town to steal items from the stores. They passed right by the quiet shrine without thinking.

Jade and Nina were alone. Nina had a furious look on her face and then she said, "Why did you do this to our town? Don't you have any heart? We are defenseless."

Jade laughed in a deep and loud voice. Nina didn't find anything funny and her temper was getting higher. She concentrated really hard on a plan. Nina needed to save the city, but what should she do. Jade replied, "You are not defenseless. Your town has the Royal Scepter. You also have your Dragon Monks somewhere around here."

"The Dragon Monks are dead. Also, I am the last of the Dragon Warriors. I thought you knew that. We'd also never use the power of the Royal Scepter. It will only bring more misery.

"This is easier than I thought," he said. "With the Dragon Monks dead and the last Dragon Warrior captured, I don't even have to lift a finger."

Nina lost it. She rose her hands in the air calling the force of lightning. Lightning cracked out of a nearby cloud. It raced faster and faster until it will strike upon Jade's head. Jade yawned, how pathetic he thought. He transported to a safer area with his magic. The lightning totally missed him. Nina thought about calling another thunderbolt, but she decided maybe she could fool him and throw a firebolt instead. But she was worried that he'd just disappear again. So Nina slowly mumbled out the spell, then suddenly a giant firebolt fell from the sky. Jade was not ready for a fire tactic, and the bolt of fire landed right on him.

Normally that would kill anyone there on the spot, but Jade stood there unharmed. He was too powerful to be stopped. With his mind Jade used his psychic powers to turn Nina to stone. Standing there with no hope, Nina froze in a frightened stage. She really transformed into stone!

Waking up from the dream, Kyle sees many people getting ready to leave to another town. He knows that he should move out that day also. Though the next town is four days away, he ventures out of town with only his wooden shield.
