Australia has come of age. No longer do we suffer 'culture cringe' ... no longer do we hide behind Britain. We have emerged as a proud nation of people. We compete on the world stage in all manner of fields. We are proud of our strine accent, we are proud of our achievers, we are proud of who we are and where we came from. We are proud of the way we accept people from all nations to our shores. We are diverse, we are resiliant, we are Australians! This site will be dedicated to the 'achievers' of our nation. Be it in the arts, business, sport or academic achievments on the world stage.

Some Little Known, or Overlooked Statistics
Australia is the biggest island continent in the world. We have no borders with other countries, our borders are the oceans and seas of the world. There is no state in Australia that doesn't have a major coastline.

Australia measures 7,686,850 square kilometers, that's (2,967,909 square miles). Our coastline measures 25,760 kilometers (16,006.5 miles ) in circumnavigation. To compare with USA, which consists of 3,539,341 square miles, we are slightly smaller, but only by some 571,432 square miles to be exact. However the difference in population is enormous. 20 Million people in the whole of Australia, but 281 million in the year 2000 in the USA. Although having what seems to be an abundance of land, our most fertile and productive land is around the entire coastline, and even some of that is not suitable for habitation. The centre of Australia is mostly desert and considered uninhabitable, or at least extremely unfavourable, to sustaining any large population. Water, being our most precious commodity, is extremely rare in the centre of this country. Australia is the driest continent (apart from Antarctica) in the world.
