Siren’s Call

The Siren is heard yet again
Sweet, melodious, far from plain,
Shivers course the Captain,
Keloid scars remain for certain,
Wise words of ancient mariners were not heeded
Wrecked he was against rocks cold and jagged

Suffered he did for many a season,
Regretting his impetuous action,
"Nay! Not again", he utters,

Setting course for safer waters,

A port he seeks to drop anchor,

Devoid of self-serving hanker,
Lack it may of finery and pomp,

Sought is a haven of warmth
