You filled the void in me…..

Storms of past swept away all that was held to be true and beautiful,

Destroying dreams and hopes that were once plentiful,

Leaving a void that yearned to be filled,

Bitterness and wariness refusing it to be killed,

Unforeseen a spark willed its way into the gloom,

Annoying and irritating it was at first bloom,

Transformed it did into a gentle glow,

Radiating warmth and tenderness, filling the hollow,

Resentment and guardedness gave way to feelings long not felt,

As the hardened heart could not help but melt,

But fear grew when memories of past pain returned,

As the heart reached out to the radiance that beckoned,

Joy and comfort found submerged the fear,

As the unexpected tormentor became dear,

And though now separated by distance,

The ache for her grows intense,

My heart’s desires I wish to pursue,

To forever possess you,

But with the Lord I have rested the choice of path,

Praying His decree will not be that we shall remain apart.
