The episode begins on Zechs' carrier, transporting the Tallgeese as it flies low over the tranquil ocean. Zechs and the officers of the ship are going over the records of what happened at the Corsica supply plant in the last episode, when a message is received from Victoria Base, located in the jungles of central Africa. The woman on the line, Lieutenant Noin, appears to be well acquainted with Zechs, and the two chit-chat and discuss rumors she has recently heard about Zechs. Zechs also brings up the rumors he has heard about her being a superior trainer for young pilots and an excellent pilot. These rumors are fact, though. Zechs questions why she trains future soldiers, considering the fact last time they met Noin despised war. She explains her love of outer space to be the reason she does what she does, and the scene cuts to a training session involving many older students. The students aren't accustomed to the zero G's though, and Noin picks up their will to succeed by informing them of Zechs' intentions to head over there soon.
On a ridge, Wufei stands, taking in the setting sun before him, when he suddenly hops on a dirt bike and rides into the jungle to head to the site where his Gundam, Shenlong, is hidden.

Back on Zechs' carrier, the officers and Zechs muse over where the Shenlong, the one Gundam who's location they were following, could have headed to. The last signal from him was picked up just south of the Equator, and Zechs feels that he is probably going to Victoria Base to attack Noin's Taurus suits. The pilot isn't surprised as he goes on to tell that even mere schoolchildren know of the Taurus space mission Mobile Suits at the Victoria Base. Zechs figures it will be all right, though, as he is heading there right now. It is then revealed that Lieutenant Noin and Zechs graduated together at the Lake Victoria Military Academy, one of the most prestigious in the world. It turns out they were the top 2 students ever to attend the school, with Zechs the top. He, however, insists it was only because Noin always tried to be second to make him look better.

Back at Victoria Base, Noin has just finished taking a shower. She looks at the various pictures of Zechs Merquise she has in her picture frame, and expresses the desire to help him out. The next day, Noin is graduation a number of men, promoting them to the rank of Specials. She then informs them that their first mission as Specials will be to get their Tauruses off base, because soon the Gundams will strike. A student who questions her decision receives a slap in the face. She then instructs them to get a move on right away. Just then, Zechs and his carrier land on a runway adjacent to the training field.

Later, Zechs and Noin talk in the dorm bar. They discuss the defense emplacentments being set up tomorrow to protect against the Gundam attack. They then talk about her men, who she believes will never die because of the philosophy she taught them - never overdo things - as she values human life over victory. Zechs expresses his opposition on the subject, and Noin offers a sharp rebut, as she pities the men who die because of miscalculations by their commanders. Zechs remains silent. Just then, a call for Lieutenant Zechs is received from Lieutenant Otto in the hangar. He informs him of the power of the Tallgeese, which surpasses initial expectations. Even though it (the rebuilding of the suit) is going quicker than expected, he informs Zechs it will still take at least another month. Zechs thanks him for the news, and a cryptic scene ensues where Noin taps sabers with Zechs, smiling.

Later that night, everyone is asleep as Wufei presses the detonation switch on explosives he set early. An explosion tears through the barracks, killing many soldiers. Everyone else awakens as the sirens go off. Once Noin finds out what happens, she heads for her students in the barracks right away. When she arrives, she is saddened by the sight of her pupils' dead, charred bodies. Right before one of them passes on, he tells Noin he wanted to go into outer space so badly. As he dies, a fury erupts in her, and she demands the enemy killed.

Mobile Suits are on defensive post on the perimeter of the complex as Noin rushes to the command center. After hearing that Zechs is okay at the South Hangar and heading to her, she informs her troops to hold off the enemy for 30 minutes while all the Tauruses are loaded onto carriers for transport. The perimeter troops can find no sign of the enemy anywhere, even with the aid of flares. Noin hops in an Aires and heads for the battlefield to command the troops herself. With the help of a heat sensor, the enemy is spotted, and she takes a few Aires with her to destroy it.

When Noin gets to the enemy, Wufei (the enemy) is riding his motorcycle out of the base to freedom. She decides there is no way he can get away, and questions why he'd be doing such a thing as driving out towards the jungle - she then realizes he is heading for his Gundam! She then orders a big beam cannon, the Space Laser, to be brought to her location to blast the Gundam when it takes off. Zechs watches two Aires lift off with the Space Laser, and wonders if she has found the enemy.

With a couple well placed shots from her machine gun, Noin blasts Wufeis motorcycle, violently throwing him forward about 50 yards. He lands with a hard thud, and Noin gives chase. The two exchange words, Noin calling Wufei a coward for killing men without giving them the chance to survive. Showing himself, Noin is surprised that he is a mere kid, and Wufei isn't surprised she is a female, as she is weak. He then kicks the package that was on his back in the face of her Aires, detonating a flash grenade. While she is blinded, Wufei uses the opportunity to race off into the jungle on his motorcycle. As the flash deteriorates, Noin wonders how a child on about 14 could have attacked the base.

Just then, Wufei and his Gundam rise out of the nearby foliage. Noin circles around to attack him as the Aires troops carrying the Space Laser prepare to fire at the Shenlong with the large weapon. Noin commands them not to at the last minute, and Wufei takes the moment of confusion as an opportunity to attack the Aireses carrying the Laser. They are easily destroyed. He then fires his claw at Noin, incapacitating her Gundam and knocking it from the sky. It makes a heavy, rough landing in the nearby jungle.

Back at the base, the carriers transporting the Taurus suits are taking off. However, carrier number 1 cannot take off because Zechs ship is in the way. Zechs refuses to move it, telling him that the Gundams aren't going to attack the Taurus's anyway and he should just leave them where they are. The man doesn't believe him though, and threatens to court marshal him. Zechs scoffs, telling him that because he has a cooler head at the moment, the decisions he makes he won't regret. Carrier number 2 then lifts off.

When Lieutenant Noin comes to, she finds herself still in the damaged Aires. Out her window, she also sees Wufei targeting the fleeing Carrier 2 with the Space Laser. Cursing her Aires for being destroyed, she witnesses the destruction of the Number 2 Carrier, along with Zechs and the man in the hangar. Wufei then abandons the weapon, tells Noin she shouldn't have underestimated him just because he was a kid, and walks away from the angered Lieutenant, not killing her because he never kills women or bleeding hearts, or so he claims.

Meanwhile, at a shipyard, Heero and Duo are working on their Mobile Suits under the satellite surveillance cover of a warehouse. Duo yells at Heero for not taking up his offer to repair his Mobile Suit with parts from Duo's, with Heero explaining he just doesn't like people touching his Gundam. Duo calls him a liar, as not even the best engineers in the world could repair a Mobile Suit without parts, but Heero goes on doing his business, not even acknowledging his presence. Just then, Heero receives a call to destroy a carrier transporting Gundanium Alloy. He decides he'll do it first thing the next morning. Duo tells him it'll be impossible, as his Gundam is too damaged, but Heero rebukes the claim, claiming he can do it. Duo then questions Heero's identity and purpose.

Meanwhile, Relena Peacecraft stands on a cliff over the ocean, wondering where Heero could have possibly gone off to.

At a meeting of the Alliance commanders, those present discuss reports from Treize Kushrenada that the rebels Mobile Suits are made out of Gundamium Alloy, a mineral only possible to refine in outer space. They wonder if this means the colonies sent them, and what they should do about it. Some say attack, giving aid to General Septum, head of the military, for an all-out strike against the colonies. Vice Foreign Minister Dorland, however, expresses his displeasure with the idea, claiming that you can't interpret all the ideas of the colony just because of the actions of a few rebels. He is called a spy for the colonies because of this, and ordered to leave the room.

Meanwhile, Trieze Kushrenada relaxes in a spa, discussing the tensions within the Alliance military with his aide, a Lady Une. He then commands her to kill Vice Foreign Minister Dorland, and she says she will attend to it.

Back at the warehouse, while everyone else goes to bed, Heero works on into the night. Duo wonders what he could be doing, and goes to bed. The next morning, however, Duo and the dockworks awaken to find Heero in his transformed mode taking off. Duo marvels at the fact that he could fix his own Gundam overnight, only to find out that Heero took parts for his suit from his suit.

Meanwhile, Heero closes in on his target, transforms into his Gundam mode, and blows away the carrier with one shot from his beam cannon. The job was easy this time.

Meanwhile, Quatre is playing a violin while Trowa listens. Trowa then heads to the cabinet, grabs a flute, and a jam session ensues. Outside the rebel mansion, in an underground hangar, Heavyarms and Sandrock near completion of their repairs. The mechanics express astonishment at how the two Gundams could be so much alike, and go back to work.

Back at Victoria Base, two Leos carrying Noin's badly damaged Aires arrive to find Zechs waiting for them. He checks on Noin, apparently very concerned. She shakes it off, claiming she is okay, although a little emotionally beat-up. She then asks Zechs to let her battle the enemy with him, which he agrees to, as he'd feel better with her alongside him. She melts hearing these words.

Meanwhile, Wufei is surrounded by a pack of wolves. He shouts at them "get out of my site you bunch of weaklings, and they whimper and retreat at the sound of his very voice. He then thinks about how empty his is feeling after fighting a weak enemy and screams.
