| Where I was when the First Plane Hit... I know you may not care, nor do you have to read this. I just need to write it. It makes me feel better to write and draw. Oh... I may be postponing anymore of my story "Pleasant Dreams" until people calm down a bit. My story has enough violence in it that people may get jumpy... Well, anywho... (Note: I have changed all my friends names in this little essay/story thing) It was during my first period class. I had returned from both, the main office and the nurse's office to my Equipment Operations class. We had headed out next to the Dairy Barn to practice our driving. As I was watching my fellow classmates drive the cub and the Ford 5000(Tractors) and joking about stuff with some friends, I was unaware of the horror that was breaking lose in New York City at 8:45. 8:53 came around and the bell rung, allowing us to go to our next class, which was Dairy Management for me. In Dairy Management we were taking down vocabulary. Most of the vocabulary was just a review but there were some new words like 'Gomer'. My Friend C.C. had gone to the guidence office. She came back 5 minutes before the class had ended. She turned to me and said, "Hey, you won't believe what I over heard when I was at the guidence office." I looked at her, "What?" "Two planes were hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center." My mouth dropped open, my mind racing to place a building to the name of the center. The twin towers popped into my head and finally words gasped from my mouth, "Oh my god." Mr. Green, our teacher, had vaguely over heard C.C. and asked her what happened. She answered his question, "Two planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center. The office had on a TV. It's all over the TV." All Mr. Green could say was, "Oh wow." The bell rung at 9:38, indicating class was over. I left the room and headed to my locker, struggled with the lock, and ran to my next class... Anatomy and Physiology. I had two periods of that class. We were making flashcards about the different planes, sections and ends of an animal. Period 3 rolled past and traffic through our room increased. You see, our room is connected to the teachers room. Teachers quickly entered and exited with papers. We knew something was up. Dr. Anderson(the Animal Science Director and NCAHS's Vet) finally interupted the class right as period 4 started. He handed Mrs. Green a piece of paper telling her to read it during her period 4 class. She responded, "You mean right now?" He nodded his head. He left the room and she turned to us. "The office as sent this over for all period 4 teachers to read." She explained. "Please listen to this carefully for it will effect everyone." I already knew what she was going to talk about. She looked at the paper and started to read.(Note: This isn't word for word, it is only how I remember it.) "We have asked for all period 4 teachers to read this because all students should know what has been happening in the past hour. Three main events have happened. Two planes have crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center causing them to collapse. There is also word that a bomb has blown up inside the Pentagon. Students may watch the news where there are TVs. We will keep you updated." No sooner did she finish the notice the loud speaker announced, "Please do not attempt to use your Cell phones. Lines are jammed because of the events early today. Again, please try not to use your cell phones. Thank you." I looked at the white board at the front of the room in shock. Tears stung my eyes but I fought them back. We finished the flashcards and she assigned us homework. Period 4 ended and I gather my stuff and left the room with my friend Cantara(kahn-TAH-rah). I met up with a fuming Sinead. She was pissed because the minute people heard about the attacks they accused the Japanese. We discussed how the announcement made it sound like the two planes crashed into the WTC was accidental. "Yeah, two planes lost control and just happened to crash into the WTC one right after the other!" I fumed. Sinead agreed with me. I also said, "The Japanese wouldn't do this." "I know," she said. "Their military is still recovering from WW2. Plus, they are getting a majority of their money from us! Almost all there products are as popular as hell here! Why in the world would they attack us?!" She agreed again and we went our seperate ways to our classes. I had Algebra 2. When I arrived Mrs. Brown had us all go into the next room to watch the news. My boyfriend, Kadin(Kah-DEEN) and my friend, Cantara were in that room. I sat behind Cantara and Kadin went to the back to talk with his Mechanics buddies. I didn't mind. We watched the TV and felt the tears return. Each word spoken by the reports hit a spot in my heart with a repeating blow. A dout crossed my mind, 'What if it was the Japanese?' I even asked Cantara. She was as equally upset. I didn't believe they would have done that. We, like the rest of America, were very confused. Than they showed the footage... the footage that hit me so hard. It smacked me into reality. It woke me from my dream that it was only a movie and woke me to a nightmare. A horrible nightmare. They replayed the second plane flying into the second tower, over and over, in different perspectives. Than they showed the towers collapse, over and over. People running, crying, screaming, covered in dust, burns, and cuts. I couldn't stop the flow of tears. Classmates tried to talk to me, I ignored them, trying to control the tears. People asked if I was OK. I nodded and by than followed my class back into our classroom to get our stuff. People asked me if I was OK, and what's wrong. The bell wrung and I left the class as fast as I could. Kadin met me in the hall way and gave me a hug. He asked what was wrong. Truely, I didn't know why I was crying. I think it was the shock. He has a very guilty conciences because his next question was, "Oh no, what did I do this time!" I laughed. We walked to lunch, he went one way I stayed with Cantara to wait for Kishi(KEE-shee). When she arrived we went inside to get lunch. We always eat outside. When we arrived to our normal eatting spot we heard Kadin and Atif(ah-TEEF) discusing if this raged into a war. I walked back into the Cafeteria to put away my plate and to say hi to some other friends. I approached their table and waved weakly. The waved back, or the majority of them did. Dream ran over to me and pulled me outside. "Are you OK?" She asked. "Ya, I guess. It's just so sad seeing the plane and the buildings..." Tears stung at my eyes again. She looked at me and for the first time I realized she was shaking uncontrollably. "Are you OK?" "Not really. My sister flew into New York last night and my Uncle works at the Pentagon and I can't call my mom to see if anything happened to them." "I'm sorry, Dream," and I gave her a hug. Star came out carrying Dream's bag. They walked towards the fence and I went to get my stuff. The bell wrung and me and Atif left to go to my brother's locker. Than I headed to 6th period, U.S. History. What I didn't know when I sat down was that the Office had been looking for me. Finally they announced over the loud speaker my name and to report to the office. My mother was let out of work early and was going to pick me and my brother up after school at 2:30. 6th period went pretty fast. We listened to the radio since that area of the building didn't get cable. The bell wrung and off to 7th period, English. Nothing special happened in that class. She made us read and she assigned homework. When period 8 came we went to our period 8 class, which was Keyboarding for me. We didn't stay there long since the Junior Class had a meeting that period. I walked by my mother that was waiting for us already. She thought school was out when she saw me. "Does Matiko(mah-TEE-koh) know I was coming to pick you guys up?" "Ya." I started to walk by her. "Where are you going?" "Class meeting. School isn't over yet." "It isn't?" "Nope it isn't. School ends at 2:30." "Oh, OK. See ya when you come out..." And that was my day. We drove home through the Blue Hills. Every once in awhile I'd glance up to the sky. No planes. It was an eerie feeling. A plane, later on that night, did fly over my house. I live fairly close to Logan Airport and planes fly over my house all the time going to and from Logan. I freaked a little. The days that followed were just as eerie. No planes. Just some fighter jets. We went on with our normal schedules. Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country started that week. I manage the Girl's Soccer Team with my brother Matiko. He is a sophmore, I'm a junior and have busy lives to live. We always have time, though, to talk to our family and friends, to be teenagers. Thanks for reading and sorry it was so long. -Mystress Yume Tenshi- +Back to Mystress Yume's Fictional Centre+ +Back to FanFiction+ +Back to Sunfire Cafe+ |
