VFA-34 is host to all pilot training within the Combined Forces Command. Once you have graduated from the VFA-34 Misfits Pilot Training School you will be assigned to your unit for advanced and continuous trainingl. For now, this is the place where all new Cadets will receive their flight training in preparation for combat ops with the CFC. All PTS missions will be made available at the "Files" area. Just click on the "Files" label and you will see what is available for your simulator. You will be given a rundown of the School's curriculum below, beyond which you will have access to breifings of each of the missions in question from the links below.
Pilot Training School is for beginning and intermediate pilots who joins the CFC. Advanced pilots with excessive flight experience will be elligible to fly a mission with a Instructor Pilot (henceforth IP) who will evaluate your skills. The purpose of PTS is to make you a better PILOT. Sure, anyone can go buy a flight sim, open the box, and in five minutes be blasting across the virtual skies, but true "flying" requires some finesse and skill.
All pilots in the PTS program will be taught the basics of landings, navigation, communication, formation flying and maneuvers, and mid-air refueling. Training is always on going and will take effort on your part to learn. Personally, I am slowly approaching 4000 hours in Falcon 4.0 and I have still have a lot of room for improvement. Once you can fly utilizing these skills as second nature you will can move on to specialized training depending on your flight status and the aircraft you fly. These training flights will be flown in multiplayer mode with an IP to guide you as you fly. You will also be downloading TE missions so that you can practice prior to the actual online flight with your IP. The same basic procedure will apply to Falcon 4 and Flight Simulator pilots.
The IP's are there not only to evaluate your performance, but to help you in any way they can to push you to PTS Graduation. Ask them questions. Have the IP show you himself if you are unsure of the maneuver, mission, etc. They are there for you. USE them... the more interaction you have with your IP's, the faster you will learn... and thusly the quicker you will complete PTS.
After you have completed the basics of flying portion of the PTS program, you will then be given training on weapons systems and weapon deliveries. These will mainly consist of standard Radar and Heat guided missiles, gun use in Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground situations, and "dumb" bomb (non-guided) as well as guided deliveries on static targets. Once you complete these missions, your tenure with the Misfits PTS program is complete, and you will be a full fledged pilot amongst our ranks.
