BSA 650 Spitfire Mk. IV 1968 My all time favourite is the BSA Spitfire
because it was the first real big bike I owned and it was
the fastest bike you could buy in the shop in those days
with a top speed of almost 200 kmh. Suzuki T250 1967 With it's six-speed gearbox the quickest bike up to 100 kmh before the Kawazaki H2 came along. Smashed it in the most spectacular fuck-up I've ever made on a bike. No harm done to me except for the bottom of my leather suit, the gloves and my pride. BMW R12 1941 Had heard rumours that an old BMW with a
sidecar could be found on a farm not to far from where I
lived. Drove up there expecting to find a military BMW
left by the Germans during the war. I think I managed to
look not too pleased when the bike turned out to be a
civilian, black with white pinstriping, and in very good
condition. The only thing missing was the tail light. The
sidecar was a Steib "Torpedo", still maybe one
of the best sidecars you can find. The floor had rusted
out but that was not a big problem and the price I paid
for it was very reasonable. Suzuki GT750 1972 The "Water Buffalo". Great touring machine with a turbine-like engine. First liquidcooled bike ever and that was the major reason why I bought it I think. Gave me no problems what so ever. Not a great bike for fast riding though. The rear end twisted when pushed to hard and the exhaust system scraped the ground if you got too enthustiastic round the bends. Yamaha DT250 1975 Ok, I love them all with a possible
exception for this one which gave me more than a fair
share of problems. Honda CB750 K7 1979 Good bike with doubtful roadhandling. A bike where you check the oil, fill the tank and ride. Best buy I you're not a mechanic. Yamaha XT600 Teneré 1980 Bought for the sole purpose of travelling through North Africa from Morocco to Egypt. A trip I would like to do again some time. Honda CB900 Bol D' Or 1982 I like the
Honda's. Reliable bikes but maybe not the most exciting. Ducati 900SS Hailwood Replica 1982 The exciting bike. The exiting bike for the moment is this one.
Ducati really is the Ferrari of motorcycles and this one
looks a bit more "classic" than the 916 so it's
my favourite for the time being.
I was having
a look at a Kawazaki H1 for a friend when I saw this one.
An almost perfect -69 Royal Enfield Interceptor. One of
the last of the mighty Enfields. Called my friend and
advised him to buy it. So he did and I can hardly wait
till summer to borrow it and take it out on the road. Could not wait till summer. During the easter vacation I had a few days off, took the Enfield to the authorities and got it registered. So now I have had the pleasure to ride it for quite a few miles. What a feeling...... and this drawing of a -69 BSA Lightning was so nice that I could not help putting it here.
