Here's some tips that may be useful to you if you happen to travel to Langkawi one day....
Seafood
Very Cheap.... For as little as RM20 (slightly less than S$10) you get to enjoy a fabulous seafood dinner
that includes chilli crab, sambal prawns, grouper, kangkong plus endless supply of ketchup, chilli sauce
and tissue paper (which was in fact a roll of toilet paper).
Sea Sports
Also very cheap.... Kayaking cost RM10 for 2 men kayak and RM6 for a 1 man kayak.
The four of us shared two 2 men kayak and took 20+ minutes to reach an uninhabitated island.
Picked some sea shells but too bad I forgot to bring my camera along =(
Night Life
Do ask the taxi driver if he charge by distance or flat rate. Take only flat rate cabs as they are usually cheaper.
For the four of us we spent RM14 from the hotel to town and the ride was about 20 minutes.
That was RM3.50, or S$1.60, for each of us and the ride back was the same price too.
Dinner in town is also very cheap, as RM20 per head will provide you another decent meal of chicken, prawns, vegetables, tofu and tea.
Pasar malam is also very common there, so why not take a walk there and compare it with Singaporean style pasar malam?
If you have nothing else to do....
Go to the pub in your hotel, yes! You can simply order a cocktail or an alcoholic drink for around RM10, or just play pool there.
If not, you can enjoy a 'night walk' and take photos of Langkawi at night, it's pretty fun too.
Other sources of leisure
Go rent a car and drive around the island(too bad none of us had a licence at that time) and take some photos here and there.
If not you can try other tourist spots like the Underwater World or Go-Kart.
Too bad 3D2N is a bit too short for us to enjoy as we were so engrossed with sea sports during day time that we negected such tourist attractions.
In summary....
A trip to and fro Langkawi may not be cheap(around S$400+ for a 2 way ticket and 5 star accomodation), but the expenses there are
relatively cheap compared to other places in Malaysia. So why not give it a try when you're free during your holidays or something?
Trust me, I assure you a trip with your friends or family will definitely be fun!!
