Yautja Encyclopedia: Humans

Pyode Amedha - Soft Meat (Humans)

[Dutch] [Dillon]

Long before the Yautja discovered the kiande amedha, they regarded pyode amedha as their most worthy prey. A few still are, but compared to kiande amedha, hunting the pyode amedha is not as exciting as it had once been. The pyode amedha's most worthy prey are their military forces. They have found honor anew in hunting soldiers of the Colonial Marine forces. The pyode amedha's new advances in technology and weaponry have made them worthy prey for years. But their most powerful asset is their intellect. A few have even outsmarted some of the hunters.

Now, a few Clan leaders and Elders hold the pyode amedha as equals. Some have been brash enough to mark a pyode amedha as a hunter. Such practices were once looked-down upon, but now it is so widely accepted by the Elders that it is only through erratic, rather than dishonorable.

"Oomans were toolfolk, had weapons equal to those of the Yautja, and were, if the stories could be believed, the ultimate pyode amehda. Soft Meat. But with deadly stingers, the oomans. A true test of skill."

(Aliens vs Predator: Prey)

The very notion of performing kv'var (exercises) on a world where pyode amedha had settled stirs a Yautja's blood. At the very least, hiding their activities from them would give the Yautja a sense of superiority.

Yautja have kept a low profile, and their maneuvers through human as well as universal history has been veiled with secrecy. That, after all, had been part of their game.

Native Americans, peoples who are indigenous to the Americas. They also have been known as American Indians or First Nations. The name Indian was first applied to them by Christopher Columbus, who believed mistakenly that the mainland and islands of America were part of the Indies, in Asia.

Natives seems to have a natural affiliation with Yautja. They can sense them, like dogs can. [Billy] Billy Sole was a 'Kit Carson' scout. Half-Sioux, half-Italian from Louisiana, where he used to hunt coon with his brother. His hair is 2 inches longer than regulation. Lean, incredibly fast. Carries a M-203. He has 13 years of combat duty (beginning in 1974), surviving the worst trench wars from Angola to Cambodia. While in South America, repeatedly sensed the Yautja's presence.

Corporal Enoch Nakai (Predator: Big Game) is a Navajo/Metis Indian. His brother was born stillborn; his mother died during labor. His father abandoned him, giving Nakai up for adoption. His grandfather was a yatadi (medicine man). Stationed at Cole Army Base. His 3-day pass (which he requested a month prior) was denied until they discovered a Yautja ship nearby, and Nakai ran into the pilot. He managed to sense the Yautja before the Yautja began firing, and thus lived. Sergeant Coates and Colonel Athelry pushed his 3-day pass effective the next day. When the Yautja destroyed the Base by exploding his ship, Nakai went back to help kill the creature, which he alone did.

[Batman] Batman (Batman vs Predator, Batman vs Predator 2, Batman vs Predator 3, Batman/Aliens, JLA vs Predator)

Real name: Bruce Wayne

Though regarded by many Gothamites as an urban legend built on superstition and fear of the city's darkened streets, Bruce Wayne knows all too well that the Batman is a cold, hard reality of his own fabrication.

Since his parents' untimely death in Gotham's dreaded "Crime Alley," Wayne has spent his life in pursuit of physical and mental perfection in order to wage unrelenting war on crime. Watching over Gotham's streets from its gargoyles and parapets, the Dark Knight is the city's last best hope against evil. And it is this obsession that drives the Batman, for Wayne has vowed that no innocent should ever suffer the pain he has endured.

In Gotham City 1992 a Yautja begins hunting a boxing champion, then seeks other political power-mongers. Seeing Batman, it makes him the primary target. Though the Yautja defeats the Batman in round one, Batman wins round two. Other Yautja arrive, and the failed Yautja kills himself to save honor. They offer the sabre the Yautja used to kill himself to Batman, then leave.

Another Yautja returns to Gotham in 1994 on a mission of revenge. It watched a playback of Batman defeating a Yautja. It begins to hunt Batman, luring him to a cave. Defeated by the Yautja, the Batman is almost killed, but the Huntress saves him. Batman encounters two other Yautja, but they are after the one stalking Batman. That Yautja is a Bad Blood. The Bad Blood manages to kill one of the two other Yautja before escaping. With federal agents getting involved (they've dealt with Yautja before), Batman lures the Bad Blood back to the bat-signal. The federal agents attack the wrong Yautja, and Batman manages to injure the Bad Blood enough to make him flee in his ship. The remaining injured Yautja chases after it, and destroys the Bad Blood's ship, but is caught up in the explosion himself.

Amongst the Mayan ruins of the Amazon forest in 1997, the Dark Knight of Gotham is out of his element as he faces an intergalactic infestation of Aliens.

In 2000, Batman again encounters the Yautja, alongside the JLA. These Yautja were DNA-enhanced by the Dominators to match their prey. Once subdued, the Yautja blew open a hole in the JLA Watchtower (located on the moon) and allowed themselves to be sucked out into space rather than be captured.

[Bergstrom] Bergstrom, Doctor (Predator: Homeworld)

Dr. Bergstrom is a biologist working on the wolf re-introduction program in Yellowstone. She encounters a tattooed Yautja there who is hunting three Bad Bloods. She also runs into a very scared George Sperling and they are attacked by the Bad Bloods. Together they travel to Carfax to stop the Bad Bloods.

Bergstrom wonders if the tattooed Yautja lived to make it back to his home, if he died on the spot, or if he found one last opponent (a bear?) and went down in battle.

5 days later: Bergstrom and George Sperling are interviewed about their experiences with the Yautja. They had already confiscated Dr. Bergstrom's tape journal and all of Sperling's photographs. They are most interested in their tales, making certain "that no one is affected by it." All they want to know is about the Yautja's behavior. The man in black was most interested in the theory of Bergstrom's common ancestry with the Yautja. The man then begins to make arrangements to tell Bergstrom's husband has been killed in a bear attack. The doctor's team is ready to set an appropriate scene, wounds and so forth.

At 24 years old, he joined the H/K Nemesis crew. Wears glasses. Deep4 was his first mission; he was contracted for 20 runs. Company recruiting brochures had promised him mental stimulation and real-time training on the cutting edge of robotics and synthetic repair six months ago. His training program taught him how to run M.A.X., not to jeopardize the integrity of the suit unless in an extreme emergency.

The Company had decided to add synthetics-tech specialists to their teams several months ago. Ellis was their first assigned. Ellis graduated at the top of his class in synthetics with high-percentile comprehension of the Company program. The stated reason was to keep M.A.X. in prime operating condition. The rumor was that a M.A.X. had wiped out a crew somewhere due to mis-management.

Eloise was an unexpected product of an early attempt. She knows mostly what she is. She's faster than normal and stronger than normal. She's also begun developing her own emotional responses. She's bonded with the lepers, become a kind of mother figure to them, possibly an influence her alien heritage.

As a ring wielder, Hal was a member of the 3600-strong Green Lantern Corps and was trained in part by Sinestro, who would become a renegade and one of his greatest foes. The Corps were the universe's most revered peacekeepers, and it was not long before his bravery earned Hal the respect of both his peers and the Guardians of the Universe, who created the Corps. He heroically championed the Guardians' goal to preserve order throughout the galaxies, even when their orders ran contrary to Hal's own rigid sense of morality. Yet, Hal was not above confronting the Guardians or quitting the Corps in order to pursue his own ideas, but he always returned to the fold. Hal was perhaps the Oan's and the Corps' greatest champion.

Doing a M.A.X. meant they'd get a chance for a transfer to a lighter security, better facilities - provided that a panel of psychiatrists agreed they had rehabilitated themselves somewhere along the way. (Yet the human has no contact to the outside world, their only expressions were through computer reads and sensor pickups and body chemistry.)

They use I.V. sedatives to maintain him in a dreamless coma state until required (respiratory rate stays even, no REMs). Plated upper torso was swollen with banks of synth/medical equipment. The human seated in lower belly.

Once sedation is cut, REM takes up immediately, the sedatives were chemically expelled from the human's system. They bring him up to fighting speed with a triple-dose of synthetic adrenalin. the third kick of adrenalin drives him into kill-frenzy.

Left arm tipped with a revolving liquid-propulsion grenade launcher and pulse rifle. Right arm has a tricapacity M120 flamethrower. Twin full-scan sensors set into the eye sockets. Has adjustable infra wide-angle cameras on M.A.X.'s chest and back, which are activated on first dosage.

The point man has a surgical implant that sends out a coded override signal to M.A.X. - any weapon directed within two feet of the point man automatically cuts out. The same implant can create an override which can stretch the boundaries in his case of viable survivors, shielding them as well from Max's weapons.

Later that night, he heard shrieking around him. By morning, he went looking for the Elk herd but they were slaughtered. One elk had been carried off almost a half a mile and stung 30 feet up in a tree. Further down, he found a slaughtered black bear. Racing, hoping to catch the culprits, he looks up in the tree line. He saw a Yautja. This one was dressed in typical battle armor. He managed to take a somewhat bad picture of the Yautja before it lept away to chase a barking dog.

Two days later. Sperling stumbles down toward a survivalist-type cabin. There he witnesses three Yautja in battle gear slaughtering a family (a mother, father, two children, and a small dog). Sperling believed they were 'wilding'. Later, Sperling runs into two humans on the hunt. Armed with shotguns, they slaughtered them too. One took a trophy as Spering took pictures and, once the Bad Bloods were gone, a shotgun. Later, he runs into Bergstrom. and they are attacked by the Bad Bloods. Before the Bad Bloods could kill the humans, the tatooed Yautja interferes. He kills one Bad Blood before they run off, leaving the tatooed Yautja injured.

The humans follow the tatooed Yautja to Carfax. Then the three Bad Blood pounced on them from the trees. The tatooed Yautja attacks. Sperling joined the fight, attaching one of the Bad Blood. The third Bad Blood knocked down Spering as the tatooed Yautja killed one Bad Blood. Spering passed out. Bergstrom managed to tie a tourniquet around his leg before she passed out from sheer shock. When Spering came to, his left foot was missing.

5 days later: Dr. Bergstrom and George Sperling are interviewed about their experiences with the Yautja. They had already all of Sperling's photographs. They are most interested in their tales, making certain "that no one is affected by it." All they want to know is about the Yautja's behavior. As the humans studies it, it studied them -- testing their limits of defense.

Yet by the time Falkner becomes head of security, there were several anomalies in their surveillence systems -- total blackouts with video cameras and motion trackers, recorded pressure drops in stmospheric integrity (suggesting unauthorized entrance or exit from the dome). The Yautja is a hunter. It's patient. It knows how to bide it's time.
