The Production Process

The Pine Core
The core of the Pine is red-brown with very visual yearly rings. The color and strength of the core vary with the nutrition in the ground and other growth conditions. In most regions in Middle and Southern Europe the conditions for fast growth are good, while the conditions change dramatically in Northern Scandinavia with cold winters resulting in a slow growing pine. The strength of the core of a pine increases every year and this can be seen visually as darker colors (see picture above). The slow growing pine therefore has a stronger core that represents a larger part of the tree. The result is that the wood will function as a wall much longer than a fast growing pine.
