Indoor climate and Sick House Syndroms
Federal Interagency Committee on Indoor Air Quality (CIAQ)
In 1989, the US Environmental Protection Agency established the Federal Interagency Committee on Indoor Air Quality (CIAQ) to coordinate the activities of the Federal Government on issues relating to Indoor Air Quality.
Danish Building and Urban Research:
A Danish government owned research organisation that does research on indoor climate.
Department of Building Technology and Structural Engineering at Aalborg University: A Danish indoor environmental engineering laboratory that does contract research for private companies.
Finnish Institute of Occupational Health
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health is a research and advisory institute whose main tasks are research and training of occupational health, provision of advisory services, and dissemination of information. The aim of one of their studies is to show how the connection between indoor air quality and the productivity of an organization can be explored.
Lund Institute of Technology
An Institute at the Swedish Lund University that have three points of entry in their indoor climate research: Measurements in both old and new buildings for detailed profiles of thermal balance and indoor climate.
Computer simulations of generalized models that provide the basis for energy standards lacking in many countries.
Experimental buildings that allow verification and demonstration. The measurements are compared with the simulations, and new improvements are suggested.
Workshop on Health-relevant VOC Measurements
Workshop 25 in the Healthy Buildings 2000 conference in Espoo, Finland. This workshop tried to initiate the development of health relevant evaluation procedures of exposure to indoor air pollution of organic chemicals.
Future Research
Center for Built Environment
Pamparius plan to utilize a technique developed by the Burstein Labs at the Center for Built Environment at The University of California, Berkeley.
The labs are developing a compact disk (CD) technology that can be placed into a normal CD player to measure the number and kind of particles that have settled on the CD. They claim that the system can identify thousands of different kinds of particles including pollens and pathogens.
