Emergency Surgery |
Arriving along side the M4K was a SIG 551. it was in for a general service and with several cracks on the bodywork and stock. 1 thing was obvious when we first checked it out: MAGAZINES! NB: only 2 are clockworks, the rest are Standards. |
Stripping the front end of the gun, numerous wires were exposed. Also the burst facility became apparant. A small dial allowing choice of 2-9 pellets. The main chassis was opened and the gearbox exposed. Removing the Pistol grip, we examined the EG700 motor. It had suffered from being too tight. As the SPACER was missing and had been replaced by some plastic. The pinion gear was very badly damaged, with deep scars. The stock was badly cracked and PAPABEAR made off with it to investigate possibilities of repair. |
Then the Safety catch was removed to reveal a screw that was horrendously damaged. It had no HEAD, just a rounded crater. The Surgical team ceased work; without the fire select removed, the geabox could not be extracted. They reviewed the patient: The stock was deemed beyond a satisfactory repair. While the screw would only be removed if the Doctors DRILLED. Interestingly, the HOP UNIT appears to have 2 vibration sensors, that detect each "shot" for the burst counter. 1 wire had 2 cuts in the insulation, that were patched up. The next of kin, agreed to Drilling, but what would the Dr. do? |
