Ferio appears and the Knights prepare to fight. Mokona hops up to Ferio and dances on his head. Hikaru's sword returns to her jewel as she loses the will to fight. Hikaru introduces herself, but Umi and Fuu stop her because they don't trust Ferio. Ferio introduces himself and asks what they're doing there. Ferio is also going to the Legendary Fountain of Eterna to get the Legendary Mineral Escudo. He tells them that they must find their own way out of the forest. Fuu tells him that they know the way out of the forest, but he has to escort them. Ferio agrees, and they're attacked by a monster. Ferio easily defeats it, and Mokona shows the way to Eterna. A bird monster attacks them and they run away from it. The Magic Knights' swords won't work against it. A monster appears in their path and Hikaru and Fuu fight it. The bird catches up with the group. Hikaru cuts off it's foot, but it grows back instantly. Ferio lures the bird into a trap. The bird fires a beam of energy at Fuu and Ferio saves her. Ferio tells Fuu that she's cute when she smiles, and helps her to stand. Mokona shows them the exit. Alcione launches an Ice Attack against Umi, injuring Umi. Hikaru is mad, and prepares to fight Alcione. Alcione tells them that she is Guru Clef's disciple and a sorceress of Princess Emeraude. Hikaru asks Alcione why she is fighting them. Alcione replies that she fights because she loves Zagato, and launches another attack. Hikaru is reminded of Umi's injury and her anger increases. She throws a Fire Arrow at Alcione, but Alcione's shield saves her. Hikaru's magical power has increased since their last fight. Alcione attacks Hikaru with and Ice Blade. Ferio asks why the girls haven't asked for his help. They respond that it's their fight. Umi wants to help Hikaru fight, but can't use her magic. Clef uses Mokona to grant Umi knowledge of magic. Alcione attacks again, and Umi uses a Water Dragon attack against her. The Knights defeat Alcione. Fuu begs Mokona for magic to help Umi. Fuu uses her magic to cure Umi. Ferio guesses that they're the Magic Knights, and they apologize for not telling him. They tell Ferio the truth about themselves. Ferio mentions that he's a friend of Emeraude's. He tells them the legend of the Magic Knights. He was going to Eterna to try to become a Magic Knight. Monsters, storms, and earthquakes have been appearing in Cephiro since the pillar has disappeared. Ferio explains the situation in Cephiro to the Knights and Mokona leads them to Eterna. Ferio gives Umi one of his earrings and kisses her hand before he leaves. Alcione returns to Zagato, and he kills her. Zagato sends Ascot after the Knights. The Knights are attacked by more monsters. They arrive at Eterna, but cannot find any water. Instead they see a line hovering in midair. Hikaru climbs a rock and finds that the spring is two-dimensional. Mokona jumps into the fountain, and the Knights follow. Hikaru finds herself alone with her pet dog. Umi is with her parents, and Fuu is with a mirror image of herself. The images attack the Knights, injuring them before Emeraude appears. She explains that their loved ones would never hurt them, and tells them to take Escude. The Knights attack the false images and discover Escude. Their armor evolves. They float out of the pool to find Presea. Her clothes change, and she makes each of them a sword. A ship appears and they leave Presea. The ship takes them underwater to the Shrine of the Sea. Umi walks away and finds Celes, a legendary Spirit that only a Magic Knight may touch. Ascot appears at the Shrine.
