1856 Birth 20th August at Vayalvaaram house
in Chempazhanthi, a village near Trivandrum, Kerala. 1872 First part of education concluded. 1877 Higher studies in Sanskrit at Varanapally. 1884 Death of father. Goes to Aruvipuram. Period of wandering. Spends long years in 'Tapas' in Pillathadam Cave in Maruthvaamala, near Kanyakumari. 1888 Siva temple established. Composition of earlier poems, incorporating Siva mythology into Adwaita Vedanta. 1894 Finds Kumaran Asan and takes him to Bangalore for education. (Kumaran Asan later becomes poet of Malayalam renaissance). 1897 Composition of Atmopadesasatakam, original Vedanta text book, at Aruvipuram. 1901
Role of Guru recognised by Public.
State census records him as an erudite Sanskrit Scholar.
1903 Sri Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam founded in his name by followers. State exempts him from attending courts. Travancore Law report notices his influence in helping to decrease litigation. 1903 Founding of the Sree Narayana Mangalam temple of Moothakunnam. The Moothakunnam temple belongs to the Hindu Matha Dharma Paripalana Sabha, an organisation founded in the year 1882. It is older than SNDP Yogam by 21 years. 1904 Settles at Sivagiri, Varkala, a coastal town famous for its temple, Sri Janardhanam. Founding of temple at Peringottukara. 1906 Founding of Temple at
Trichur. 1907 Founding of temple at Cannanore. 1908 Founding of temple at Tellichery. 1910 Founding of temple at Calicut and Mangalore. 1912 Establishment of Adwaitashramam at Alwaye. 1912 Founding of the Gouriswara temple of Cherai, the birthplace of Sahodaran K.Ayyappan 1916 Widespread celebration of his 60th birthday throughout West Coast and elsewhere, making further recognition as a spiritual leader and Guru. Composition of Darsana Mala about this time, representing a high level of mystical literature. 1916 a little known fact Guru sends his resignation letter (from SNDP) to Dr Palpu. Guru attributed this to the 'caste pride' of the leaders of the Yogam and declared that he belonged to no caste or religioun. 1918 First tour of Ceylon. 1921 Conference of Brotherhood at Alwaye. 1921 Prathishta of the prabha with writing 'Sathyam, Dharmam, Daya, Sneham' 1922 Rabindranath Tagore at Shivagiri 1924
Conference of all religions at Alwaye, inaugurating Study
of Comparative religions and suggesting the foundation of
a university for Science of the Absolute. (Brahma Vidya
Mandiram). 1925 Mahatma Gandhi at Shivagiri, the great dialog. 1926 Visits Coimbatore and Nilgiris and suggests the location for the Gurukula. Second visit to Ceylon. 1926 (or 28?) Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham registered in Trichur 1927 "Kannaadi" Prathishta (Mirror Prathishta) 1928 Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham was registered 1928
Serious illness. Attains Samadhi at Varkala on 20th
