Neil Pearson stars in a romantic comedy drama for Yorkshire Television. The
six-part sitcom follows the ups and downs of a long distance romance. On the
last night of their holidays in Crete, Greg (Neil) and Lucy (Joanna Roth) meet
and fall in love...but Greg lives in Newcastle and Lucy lives London. Can they
carry on their affair over 250 miles? "See You Friday" explores the passions and
intensity of seeing someone only at weekends and contrasts this with the
difficulty of sustaining a long-distance relationship.
" Here was a story that wore its heart on its sleeve, with a character who's
undeniably honest and decent, " says Neil. " Playing Greg was a new goal for me
and I couldn't resist finding out if I could handle it." By which we think he
means that rather than playing the sexy love-rat he plays a soppy loving kind of
chap.
Its more of a romantic comedy drama than a sitcom. Makes you smile
indulgently rather than laugh. Bit like BallyK in that way but without the
whimsy. The first episode was a bit slow (scene setting etc) but it has settled
down now nicely. The characters are real and I've recognised situations that
I've been in so it is at least semi-realistic--those intense phone calls; the
sad partings at railway stations; the madness of being in the first throes of
love. Sigh. Lucy should get rid of that sour-faced old cow of a friend though.
And theres lots of bed scenes so you get to see Neil shirtless. :-)
