Play Of The Week: Way Upstream
Written by the award-winning playwright Alan Ayckbourn.
When two couples, the Taylors and the Wingates, decide to take a boating
holiday together, they have high hopes for a relaxing and tranquil trip
along Britain's senic waterways. They soon find, however, that
navigating the Hadforth Bounty is not as easy as expected - and maintaining
even tempers in the strict confines of a four-berth cabin proves virtually
impossible.
Before Long the landlubbers and their vessel get into severe
difficulties, but just when they are beginning to despair, the attractive
Vince (Neil Pearson) appears mysteriously to come to their rescue.
The greatful team--seduced by his nautical know-how and his irresistable charm-- invite Vince on board with open arms. Little do they imagine that the smooth exterior hides and unpredictable and violent temper.
Samantha Bond, Russell Dixon, Adam Godley and Jenny Funnell complete
the starry cast.
