Starvengers was a show from the 1970's that represented all things good in the universe
Gekiganger is the Anime within the Anime from Nadesico. Whereas Starvengers (also known as Getta / Getter Robo G) is the classic, original transforming mecha series that has been missing for a generation. (Oh, if the gif isn't working you're not missing much, a three year old kid could have done better.)
Each and every character (on the goodies side) have an equivilant in their alternate cartoon. I refer to the show as Starvengers primarily because the characters rub it in each time they say it, especially in the first episodes. The English names are also used to the extent that I need to use them myself.
