This I built for
a neighbor who was building a new deck and sunroom on the back of his house.
I never attempted something like this before but always wanted to build
a spiral staircase. He was my guinee pig, and paid for my learning experience.
I left him cut and install the stair treads which are made of cedar and
fit in a steel frame for each step. The hardest part was bending the 1
1/2" steel tubing for the railing. I did this using a hand operated (all
the muscle and weight I could muster) conduit bender I bowered from an
electrican friend. The family loved it when I got it installed.
I made this for
a veteran friend that passed while I was helping him shovel out his brothers
car. (Miss ya Art!)
This
picture will link you to some of my old past bike projects, icluding a
couple racers. This old caddy was a project in itself. I use to ride with
a bunch of friends that hung around a body shop. Somehow this project got
started and took on a life of it's own. It was kinda exciting just loading
the bikes. We had a ramp that went from the ground to the trunk and one
from the trunk to the roof. We just rode them up the ramp. I still have
the ramps and use them for loading my truck. We had to put heavy duty springs
(out of the front of a 3/4 ton ford truck) in the rear. We had a guy in
our group that laid carpet, so he did the roof in black Astroturf. It was
a great car to start with (67 Fleatwood) and had a great body that we just
sanded the heck out of and repainted.
