The Word

Psa 107:20 He sent his WORD, and HEALED them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Psa 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast MAGNIFIED THY WORD ABOVE ALL THY NAME.

The Word of the Lord is of central importance. If you don’t believe the Word of God there will be no healing for you! The bible is not a collection of religious myths, it is life and health.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the WORDS that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE.

Prov 4:20 My son, attend to my WORDS; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Prov 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Prov 4:22 For they are LIFE unto those that find them, and HEALTH to all their flesh.

Prov 4:23 Keep thy HEART {or spirit} with all diligence; for out of it are the ISSUES OF LIFE.

God’s Word is the definition of truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Pet 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Why are words so important? They are God’s way of manipulating the visible universe. He created all things with words. In Genesis chapter one we see God’s Spirit performing the words that He spoke. "And God said" is repeated over and over again.

Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.

John 1:3 ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Everything God made "was good" until man ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Man already had the knowledge of good the problem was the knowledge of evil. You see, God had given man His ability to frame worlds with words. With the knowledge of evil came a change in man’s heart, which caused a change in his words, which caused a change in his world. There had been no death, sorrow, crying or pain but now man breathed them into existence with his words.

The "knowledge of evil" is closely related to "the lie" mentioned in Revelation.

2 Th 2:11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe THE LIE

In context "the lie" refers to the antichrist proclaiming himself to be God. Now, the antichrist is just the devil in a human body as Jesus was God incarnate. This lie then is the same thing as saying that the devil is God. This just happens to be the original lie spoken by the devil, as an act of treason, while he was still in heaven.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH.

The lie spoken in heaven is still effecting the earth. "The lie" is that evil is stronger than good, that darkness is stronger than light, that hate is stronger than love, that death is stronger than life, that sickness is stronger than health. Thank God lies are temporal but truth is eternal. The only way to defeat the lie is with the truth. Remember, God’s Word is the truth. God had to get His Word into the earth at all cost. First He did it through the prophets. They were persecuted, tortured, murdered. Then He sent Jesus, the Word of God, in person and He paid the ultimate price.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and HIS NAME IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD.

Jesus is your deliverer, He is your redeemer, your strong tower, your refuge and your fortress, an ever-present help in time of need. Jesus is the Word and the Word therefore is your savior. What is the Word? The Word is the bible! Jesus often quoted the Old Testament. He spoke of Moses and Jonah and Adam. He never questioned the veracity of the Old Testament writings. Then along came Peter who called Paul’s writings scripture and allowed us to have confidence in the New Testament.

2 Pet 3:15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

2 Pet 3:16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, AS THEY DO THE OTHER SCRIPTURES, to their own destruction.

All the scriptures had the same source, they were God-breathed by the Holy Ghost (2 Tim 3:16). All real prophecy is also Inspired by the Spirit (2 Pet 1:21). Even your defence before the heathen can be God speaking.

Mat 10:19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

Mat 10:20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Prophetic utterances have to be judged but you can always be sure of the reliability of the bible. The bible will never profit anyone if it sits on a shelf. It only germinates, becoming living and active, in the good soil of the human heart. Sow the Word which is your life and health in your heart today.
