Mirai no Senshi
Chapter 19:
"An’ya kawaru? keibo no ginmi!"

Gyou pushed the door to An’ya’s room open, as quietly as possible to not disturb the unconsious young woman. He smiled at Juuhachi, who stood staring out the far window, her back to him. As quietly as possible, he walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

Juuhachi jumped in suprise, spinning in the process, her fist stopping less than an inch short of breaking the unflinching Gyou’s elbow.

Juuhachi Gou’s eyes narrowed in annoyance. "Bakabakashii! Hishou fumitodomaru ki!"

Gyou grinned. "Sorry."

"You did that just to piss me off, didn’t you."

Gyou shook his head. "Iie, no."

"You’re not going to quit though, are you."

"Nope."

"Why not?"

Gyou smiled. "I’m going to keep doing it until you stop being so defensive."

"You’re going to make me loose my edge."

He suprised her by kissing her on the cheek. Juuhachi flinched and pulled away. Gyou shook his head. "You don’t need an ‘edge’ anymore, Juu-chan... you’ve got friends, and there isn’t anyone actively trying to kill you at the moment, so there’s no real need to worry about your own safety."

"I..."

"Juu-chan, tell me... when I kissed you, what did you feel. Be honest."

"Oka... okabore... ai... ningen’ai."

Gyou smiled faintly, and pulled Juuhachi Gou into a hug, this time one she barely resisted. "Juu-chan. Trunks won his fight with Vejiita."

"Hai... I knew he would."

They paused and just held each other for a while, until a peculiar noise came to their attention. Juuhachi Gou’s eyes widened as she looked over Gyou’s shoulder, and, a second later, was three feet past his suprised (and prone) form.

Gyou shook his head to clear it from the impact with the table. Nothing broken, he thought sarcasticly. The table, of course, wasn’t so lucky. "Juu-chan, what is it?"

Juuhachi Gou looked back at Gyou, distress in here eyes. "It’s An’ya! She’s waking up!"

Gyou’s eyes widened. "NANI?!?"

Trunks pulled his arms as close to his sides as possible, the bag of Senzu beans secured safely at his belt. He was doing his best to reduce air resistance and make it back to ‘The Shack’, as his students had started calling their capsule house, as quickly as possible. Even at this speed, it’ll still be another half and hour... but if I Ascend, I can make it in half the time...

Not needing any further prompting, Trunks pushed himself to the next level, and once again shot off towards the capsule house as fast as he could go. Bystanders below would be talking about their UFO sighting for nearly a year after Trunks’s passing.

***

An’ya Ryuu’s breathing was ragged, and none of Trunks’s students were capable of doing anything to help her. Juuhachi looked at An’ya’s open and awake eyes with a sense of pity, and one of awe.

"It’s amazing," she whispered to herself, "that a person so injured could be awake."

An’ya’s gaze traveled the room (the parts of it she could see), three or four times before she whispered, quietly, just loud enough for Juuhachi Gou’s enhanced hearing to pick up, "Where’ssss Trunkssss?"

Juuhachi moved closer. "He’ll be here soon, An’ya-chan... he’s coming."

"I want... I need him... I... I need Trunkssss..."

"He’ll be here soon, I promise."

"Juu-chan?"

"Trunkssss!"

"Quiet Gyou! Trunks is coming An’ya-chan. He’s coming. He’ll be here soon, very soon."

"I want Trunks... he needs to be here... where is he? I need to talk to Trunks! Bring Trunks here now!"

It’s like talking to a child. Juuhachi thought as she shook her head. "He’ll be here soon, I promise." She said aloud, silently adding Trunks, where are you?

***

Trunks didn’t bother using the door, he punched straight through the roof of the capsule house, mentally promising himself to fix the damage later. In a flash, he was through the door, and into An’ya’s room. Juuhachi rose to say something, but Trunks pushed her out of the way, dropping out of Super Saiya-jin in the process. He dropped down to An’ya’s side, fishing the bag out of his belt in the process.

"She’s been calling for you, Trunks." Juuhachi said, a little shaken by Trunks’s rough actions.

Trunks glanced her way. "I know. I could hear her in my mind, calling for me. She said it was urgent, but wouldn’t tell me anything else." Obviously finished with her, Juuhachi pulled all of Trunks’s other students out of the room. Most of them got the hint, but Setsuna was too curious to leave readily, and Juuhachi had to actually carry the little Yardrattosei-jin out of the room.

Trunks gently brushed a strand of hair out of An’ya’s eyes.

"Trunks."

Trunks put a hand to her lips. "Don’t talk, An’ya-chan. I’m here, and I’ve got something for you."

"It’s important, Trunks." An’ya’s voice said, directly into his mind. Speaking was appearantly using up too much of her remaining strength.

"It can wait a couple more minutes."

An’ya grimaced. "I... I may not live that long, Trunks..."

Trunks grimaced as well, and pulled a Senzu Bean out of the sack. "An’ya-chan, you’re not going to die. I’m not going to give you up so easily. Now, open your mouth. This’ll make you feel better."

The young woman smiled, after coughing in pain, and opened her mouth to accept the Senzu Bean. Trunks gently dropped it into her mouth.

"YUCK! This thing’s disgusting!"

"Chew it up and swallow it, An’ya."

"NO!" She gagged, making an effort to spit out the mean.

"An’ya, if you won’t do it for yourself, do it for me."

An’ya stopped, and closed her eyes. "I’m going to get you for this, Trunks."

"It can wait until after you’ve healed. Now please, eat the bean."

An’ya didn’t hesitate any further. She chewed up the bean, and swallowed it, trying her best not to void her stomach of it’s meager contents in the process.

An’ya felt her eyes grow heavy as the unknown ‘bean’ started taking effect. The last thing she felt before falling unconsious was a peculiar tingling in stump of her left arm.

***

Trunks closed the door as silently as possible, mentally exhausted, he sat down on the couch in the middle of the main room.

Setsuna looked up (well down) from his position on the roof where he was trying to patch the hole Trunks had made. "Is An’ya okay?"

Trunks grinned, "Hai. She’s going to be just fine. She’s sleeping now."

"Poor guy," Gyou said from just beyong Trunks’s hearing. "He’s in denial... An’ya Ryuu is going to die."

***

Ryuu An’ya opened her eyes, and immediately thought she was dreaming, though she knew she was not. The pain, which had been present constantly, even in her dreams, was completely gone. Consious for the first time in who-knows-how-long, An’ya smiled up at the face of her teacher, and the man she loved.

"Tr... Trunks?"

He smiled back. "I’m here, An’ya-chan. The Senzu Bean has completely healed you by now."

An’ya didn’t hesitate, she instantly pulled Trunks into a hug. "Trunks..."

"It’s okay, An’ya. From now on, everything is going to be okay."

An’ya smiled, and moved to kiss Trunks on the cheek, but stopped as she came to a startling realization... she was looking at her own hand... her own _LEFT_ hand.

"M... Muri..."

"You seem suprised, An’ya-chan."

"My arm... this is impossible, I’m dreaming! I’ve got to be dreaming!"

Trunks shook his head. "You’re not, An’ya-chan. I told you, the Senzu Bean has completely healed your injuries. All of your injuries, old and new. The scars, be they physcal or emotional, won’t go away, though... there’s nothing that can be done about such things."

An’ya smiled. "Okay, smart guy, I can believe I’m completely healed... now can we please get to finding me some clothes? I seriously need to do some exercises... my muscles are stiff, I can feel some of them cramping already."

Trunks smiled. "Not suprising, you’ve been unconsious for more than two weeks."

"Has it been that long?" An’ya asked, stretching her tired muscles, and giving her shoulders a massage to work the kinks out. Her eyes widened in shock as she felt something, and instantly realized what it ment.

No... No! This is wrong, it’s way too soon! Fukanou! I’m dead... I... I can’t do anything about this... Trunks saved me just to watch me die an even more painful death...

"An’ya? What’s wrong?"

"In vain... it was all in vain..."

"Nani?"

"It’s too soon... it wasn’t supposed to happen for another year, maybe too... I was supposed to be back home by then... kokuhyou!"

Trunks grabbed An’ya by the shoulders, forcing her to look up. "An explaination would be appreciated."

"Trunks, I..." An’ya paused as a thought occured to her. Trunks... maybe with your help I can survive this... maybe... An’ya focused, and forced herself to utter the next words. "I’m... Transforming..."

Trunks’s jaw dropped. "N... Nani?!?"

An’ya gritted her teath, "Trunks... I need your help through this, or it’s going to kill me... it wasn’t supposed to happen for two more years, I was supposed to be back to my homeworld by then... I need your support, your _presence_ just to survive this, and..."

Trunks wrapped An’ya in a hug. "Whatever you need, I’ll be here to provide it. I didn’t save you from near death just to have you taken from me again. Just give me a minute to get everyone away from the house."

***

"They... gone?"

"Hai. I sent everyone with Juuhachi on a shopping trip to Satan City Mall."

An’ya smiled faintly. "That’ll keep ‘em busy for a day or two."

Trunks smiled and nodded. "Hai... what do you need me to do?"

"Power up... and... Hold me... by the arms, by the shoulders, any waywhere really, just not... don’t hug me, stay away from my back, it’s where the majority of my transformation takes place."

Trunks let his aura surround him as he took An’ya by the arms. "Now what?"

"Just... wait." An’ya said, already out of breath. It’s happening faster than I anticipated... K’so...

An’ya’s eyes widened as her consiousness was hit by two bright spears of pain right above her shoulder blades. The girl cried out and involuntarily jerked forward, slamming her head against Trunks’s shoulder. An’ya focused on Trunks, trying to keep the pain from driving her into unconsiousness.

Trunks gasped and An’ya screamed in pain as two, three foot shards of bone burst from An’ya’s back. They appeared to be armor plated, but Trunks couldn’t even begin to guess at their purpose, but he watched with a mixed sense of horror and curiosity as six more… spines... pierced An’ya’s back in the same two-at-once manner of the first.

Trunks felt An’ya’s Ki increasing, and watched as she started to glow. Thinking quickly, Trunks powered up to match her, and was suprised to find An’ya’s newfound power was stronger than he’d expected. In a flash, Trunks pushed himself to Super Saiya-jin, and matched her Ki, forcing their spirits to unite.

Juuhachi slid into the bench next to Gyou. The young man didn’t seem to be having much fun on the ‘Trunks induced’ shopping trip.

"Something wrong, Gyousei?"

"Iie..." Gyou said, looking up at Juuhachi. "Gyousei?"

Juuhachi chuckled. "Did someone make it illegal for me to make up a pet name for you, Gyou-chan?"

"Iie... and I suppose Gyousei beats the hell out of ‘Gyou-chan’."

"Well, if you don’t like it, perhaps you’d prefer ‘Isshu’."

Gyou looked at her incredulously. "A Poem? Where’d you get _that_ from?"

"Well... Gyou means ‘Verse’, right? You do the math."

Gyou smiled faintly. "My... my parents used to call me that."

Juuhachi grimaced. "S.. Sumimasen! I didn’t..."

Gyou put an arm around her. "It’s okay, ‘Juzou’... I... well... I guess it just sounds right coming from you. It’s hard to explain."

"I think I understand, Isshu. Wait, Juzou?"

" ‘Did someone make it illegal for me to make up a pet name for you’, Juu-chan."

Juuhachi couldn’t help but giggle. "Point taken, but you do realize I’m going to get you for using my own words against me."

Gyou grinned. "Bring it on, Juzou."

"You asked for it Isshu."

An’ya pulled away from Trunks and stood on her own for the first time in hours. "F... Finished..."

Trunks smiled. He was mentally exhausted from the near-constant control of his Ki and the very length of time at which he’d stayed a Super Saiya-jin. He looked down at An’ya, noting the physical differences quite easily. She was a good four inches shorter than she’d been before, and somehow seemed quite a bit less masive then she’d been before.

Dispite her small stature, An’ya also seemed more imposing, which probably had something to do with the twin frills protruding from her back. They seemed frail, but having witnessed An’ya’s transformation, Trunks knew they were anything but. He’d seen the muscles form underneath, and knew she was capable of hiding them completely.

What had supirsed him the most about her transformation was her change in color. Instead of a deep midnight black, An’ya’s skin was highlighted by lavender ‘tiger stripes’, which matched his hair color exactly. Also, her formerly amber eyes had changed to a light turquoise, the same color as the pupil-less eyes of a Super Saiya-jin.

"Trunks... there’s something else we need to do to... finalize things..."

Trunks’s eyes narrowed.

"I’m sorry... I wanted to tell you at the beginning, but... I was afraid you’d... you wouldn’t..."

Trunks kissed her gently on the lips. "I’ve made my decision An’ya, and it’s final. I told you I’d be here for you. I think it’s time I grew up and stopped evading the question I’ve been asking myself sense your injury. An’ya-chan, I love you."

End of Chapter 19:
"An’ya transformed? Test of love and respect!"

Two relationships tested in one chapter? Sorry ladies, but I think Trunks is no longer #1 on the list of ‘Most Elegible DBZ Bachelors... but hey, there’s still Yamucha, Tenshinhan, Piccolo, Chaiotzu, and Yajarobi to choose from! LoL. ^_^
