Chun-Li in Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie
Chun-Li plays a fairly large role in Street Fighter II the Animated Movie. In the movie she works for Interpol and she is sent to the United States to join up with Guile to form a joint operation against the Shadowlaw Organization and M. Bison. At first Guile is reluctant, wanting his own personal revenge on Bison. He later softens after learning that Bison murdered Chun-Li's father. The two form a strong friendship and some even say that if the movie allowed it would have turned romantic between the two. Bottom line, Guile cares for her a lot in this movie. Unfortunately she isn't around much in the end, the result of a fight with Vega that lands her in the hospital fighting for her life. The Vega vs. Chun-Li fight is probably one of the best fight scenes in the movie as they turn Chun's apartment upside down. This fight really shows Chun's character and how awesome she really is. She takes several slashes from Vega's claw that would leave most fighters out, but she shows her strong character as she fights through the pain and eventually kills Vega. Guile heads off to battle Bison, but in the end Ryu and Ken prove to be the heroes. Guile returns and is told Chun-Li died while in the hospital, shocked at this news, he races to the hospital only to find she was playing a cruel joke on him and the two celebrate the victory over Bison and Shadowlaw. The cool thing about this movie is that it portrays Chun-Li as a very feminine fighter. It does not hide her identity as a woman despite the fact that she can kick some serious butt. She is able to show her delicateness and beauty as well as her strength. She is not afraid to show weakness or to ask for help.
