Chun-Li in Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter Alpha came out after Street Fighter 2 the Animated Movie, but it is more of a prequel to SF2. Chun-Li has a radically different character in this anime. She is more hard core and comes across as a strong, intelligent fighter without much of a feminine side. This movie develops more of a story between Chun-Li and Ryu. Most of the SF2 Alpha characters are in this anime, Chun, Ryu, Ken, Zangief, Sakura, Vega, Dan, Akuma, Birdie, Rolento, Guy and Sodom. Basically the mad doctor Sadler is attempting to take over the world by harnessing the fighting power of the Street Fighters. He holds a huge tournament at his remote fortress. Ryu is struggling to control a dark power arising within him, the same power that consumed Akuma and made him evil. Chun-Li and Ken go along with Ryu to stop Saddler from taking over the world. There are several intense battles along the way as the group must fight evil cyborgs that have been powered by all the street fighter's data. They eventually try to stop Saddler but his Cyborg henchman nearly kills Ken and Chun-Li. Ryu is eventually forced to bring out his dark energy so he can save his friends. Chun-Li doesn't do to much in this anime, she just kind of stands around obsessed with Ryu. She has a few decent fight scenes, but she gets totally destroyed when fighting Saddler's monster Cyborg. There is a cool scene at the credits where she kicks the snot out of a bunch of street thugs. Overall this anime was not anywhere near as good as SF2, but it is still a fairly decent Street Fighter adaptation.
