A year before Walt Disney passed away, he had an idea for a city of the future, in which people would live, learn, and develop new technologies. Walt called it EPCOT, which then stood for Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorow. However, he died unexpectedly before his idea, or the theme park called Magic Kingdom he was already building in Florida, could be completed.
Years passed, and the Florida resort did well. WED, Walt's think tank (now called WDI), decided to go ahead with his plans, only this time reshaped into the theme park we know today. EPCOT became Epcot, no longer an acronym.
So, what does EPCOT stand for today? Below are some suggestions collected from Disney Cast Members, loyal theme park fans, and other sources. If you would like to add your own to the list, you are welcome to.
