Cheques and Balances

Introduction

Due to the downturn in the economy a great deal of attention has been given to taxation. We are concerned at the federal, state, and local levels.  The major political parties are at odds with each other on this issue, even during the post Sept. 11 era of co-operation.  We have many needed services that are supported via taxes.  However, the choices are vexed and complex - who taxes, how, and what services do we support or drop?
