Two Worlds Chapter 16

~Revise and Demise~

Dusk held forth her scared wrist in the cool night. A tear slid down her cheek as she drew her sword, glistening under the stars. The ancient tradition was going to kill her someday, she hoped that day would be tonight, she hated the sorrowful pain that grew in her. She could hear one of the dead men's wife crying in her bed now, hugging an old piece of clothing, wishing she had said that she loved him just one more time.

Before her lay two mounds of dirt. Dusk wished she had something to put in there to symbolize who they were, but she had nothing, not even blood to put in their place. Their ashes had been blown away long before.

Dusk placed her sharp blade on her wrist over the first grave and screamed as she slit it open and then pain rushed over her. Everyone in the group shot their heads over towards her, but they knew to leave her be, she had said to leave her to do what she had to do, and they would respect the stranger's needs, as she had respected theirs.

Dusk panted as the blood streamed over her wrist and poured over the grave. Dusk wished she had more to offer, but the tears and blood were all she could give. Dusk screamed again as made another cut in her wrist, cutting deeper this time. The blood gushed out over the second grave, soaking the top layer of dirt with her life.

"I'm so sorry..." Dusk cried as the tears and blood overcame her. She was just shedding a portion of what had been taken from them, she should be doing more, but not tonight, tonight this was all should possibly offer, "I knew, but I wish there had been another way. I should have done something else. Why does everything have to end in death?"

//: And why does everything begin with death? This is not over, it has just begun. ://

Dusk held her wrist tightly, trying to stop the bleeding, but her mind was more concerned about the emotional damage. That would never stop, the pain would never cease, and she would never undo the carnage she had inflicted on so many people. Bending down, she kissed both graves and prayed that they both be blessed wherever they both ended up. Dusk then stood and returned to the campfire where the other seven of them were.

No one gave a second thought to her actions. All five of the Gundam pilots had been there, they had all dealt with their grief in different ways. Every single one of them knew the pain and her traditions only brought forth hurtful memories, memories that would never die or fade. Everyone was somber in the warm fire light.

"What now?" Duo asked. It was a simple enough question with a very complicated answer.

After a moment of silence, Katara stood up tall, "I'm going to find Sage, this is far from over."

"I'm going with you," Luke stood at her side and wrapped a protective arm around her, and she let him. Heero stared at her hard. Something wasn't right. Whenever they were on a mission before, she hated his protectiveness, but now that she was going on a mission, this time she wanted him there. What was she thinking...

"Do you even know where she is?" Wufei stepped in, Katara wasn't thinking this through, and he wasn't about to let a silly woman rush into it.

"I can find her. She is the last semi-pure fairy on this planet, her energy can't be hard to locate," Katara informed.

"What do you mean the last semi-pure fairy?" Dusk asked, and knew it must have been a stupid question.

"She has a little elf and some human in her, she was supposed to inherit the throne, but she was disinherited because she wasn't pure. The rest of her race was whipped out by a ghost attack. She was the sole survivor. She hasn't been the same since the attack, maybe that's what made her turn," Katara snarled, everyone could feel the hatred radiating off of her, but Heero and especially Dusk could sense how unstable her energy was. She was in distress.

Katara struggled to hold on to consciousness. Everything inside her was screaming out to stop and sleep, but she knew that her time was coming. Soon, the weight of the world would rest on someone else's shoulders. Katara swallowed and leaned closer into Luke, glad that a long time ago, she had ensured that he would never turn against her.

"But you don't care about half-breeds?" Dusk asked as Katara glared at her, "I mean, you're going after her because she betrayed you, not because of her breed," Dusk asked, suspiciously.

"This has nothing to do with her purity, this has to do with her turning on us in our time of need. Even you stood by us, and she left! She left and went to THEM! To fucking TERRA! How can you dare say this has anything to do with race, when she nearly got us KILLED! WE NEEDED HER! I needed her! I bet they are rewarding her right now with tons of filthy cash and her own special ranking in their stupid army!" true tears streamed down her face. She hated Sage for what she did, and she would make her pay.

"So this is pure revenge?" Dusk replied calmly to Katara's outbursts.

"Damn right it is," Katara shot back and left to get changed, "Do you have the guns that you bought today Luke?" Katara asked as she reached her horse.

"Yeah, I got them loaded on the horse when we left," Luke answered and went to get them.

"Whose coming with us?" Katara looked to the Gundam pilots and all of them got up except for Wufei who sat perfectly still.

"Wufei?" Katara questioned him, but he refused to move, "Fine, do you want to come too Dusk?"

"This isn't my battle," Dusk clenched her wrist hard, she could feel the energy pulsating out of Katara, either she was dying or she was casting multiple spells at the same time.

Dusk pulled Heero aside as they all went to get changed into something more appropriate, "Heero, is something wrong with Katara?" Dusk struggled to remember their names. She had been introduced, but she found it hard to remember which name belonged to who.

Heero was silent but after Dusk refused to let up her hard cold glare, Heero finally whispered, "She's dying. She merged with another person a long time ago, and now she is being ripped apart, Sage was helping her as far as we knew, but now that Sage is gone..." Heero didn't finish.

"So that's why she is so angry. Heero, I'm afraid that she may be using her magic on you or the others. Call it intuition, but I don't like her. Something isn't right," Dusk shook her head, "I hear that dying and a lot of stress can make you go temporarily insane, but what do you think?"

"I think that you are talking about something you know nothing about, and shouldn't get involved in," Heero glared right back at her. He felt hurt and angry at what she was saying. She knew them for a couple of hours, and sure she had helped them, but she had no right to be saying those terrible things. Katara was just complicated, she wasn't insane, she had been through a lot, and she had two people living in one body, both personalities would show through, and the thing with Duo was an isolated incident. Katara had done so much good, how dare anyone imply that she wasn't sane.

//: You thought it too though. You thought that something wasn't right with her. ://

//: That was different. I was thinking that what was happening to her was making her do things she wouldn't normally do. ://

//: Isn't that what Dusk was implying? ://

Heero forced himself to stop thinking. Katara was only trying to help Duo when she cast the spell on him, and the fact that she kept changing her reactions to different situations was merely a sign that she had more than one personality influencing her actions. He knew that, he didn't think that she was insane.

"Fine," Dusk held up her hands and stepped backwards, "But don't think that I don't know anything, because I can see a lot more than you think I can."

Heero watched her stare at him, her eyes were so piercing. The whiteness burned a whole through him, and he couldn't pry his eyes away. She was strong, hurting, but strong.

"Hey Heero! Come look at these cool uniforms! They won't even know we're there to kick their asses!" Duo was grinning wildly as Heero approached him and took the military garments.

"What about weapons?" Heero asked as he looked around.

"They are all right her, we have everything from tear gas, to machine guns, to stun-guns and even grenades," Luke throw a bag towards him filled with deadly toys of every shape and size.

"Primitive," Heero commented as he inspected the various weapons.

"It's the best we could get that was from earth, after all, we had to make sure that you knew how to use them," Luke retorted.

"What about ammo?" Trowa asked as he picked up a larger machine gun.

"Here," Luke tossed Trowa a large heavy bag. Trowa caught it one handedly with deft ease.

"Thorough," was all Trowa said as he pulled out ten clips of ammo for his gun.

"Get changed, and then we'll leave," Katara ordered as she felt the energy drain from her. She was losing it fast, but she took a deep breath and held on. She had to do this before she went, it would be the last thing that she did.

She knew that Sage was going to betray her, she could feel something coming, she just didn't know that it was going to be so soon, and when she needed her most. Sage had been really upset after she tried to self destruct and Katara had been diligently paying attention to her, and she had caught her lost in her thoughts once, a quick peak into her mind, and she knew that she had struck a deal with Terra. Terra hadn't been able to find the stones, and so she had sent Luke and Katara to find the stones. When they had refused, she had sent spies to see where they were going. After finding out they were going to go see the fairies, Terra had done some digging and found out about Sage, the perfect candidate. After Sage refused, Terra threatened to kill all the fairies, but Sage didn't listen, and then when Terra told her that she was going to kill them all, but she would spare Sage if Sage would just allow them to know where she was the whole time. Sage refused. Coincidently, a ghost showed up and killed them all, but Sage survived, and knew that she had nothing left, and the only future she had was with the Fallen Angels, so when Terra came to her when everyone was asleep, Sage agreed to be a spy for them.

Katara felt so disgusted. She had trusted her once, but now, she would have her revenge, before she died, she would have her justice.

Heero was armed with his machine gun, three knives, two grenades, four tear gas canisters, and a handgun. Trowa and Duo were similarly armed. Quatre had three handguns, six knives and ten bombs. He was the designated 'bomb man', who was assigned to go to the lowest levels and cause the building to collapse. Luke had his staff ready, and Katara had hers, plus two hand guns, and four knives. At first it had been hard to hide all the ammo and weapons, but after everyone had finally found all their pockets, it had been easy to find Sage. She was a block from where she had left them.

"There are eight guards in there, Luke you take the four on the left, Heero you take the four on the right, the rest of you split up into your groups and cover the entire building, leave Sage for me," Katara commanded and they stepped up to the front door of the three level decaying building.

"So we just walk in?" Duo asked unsure.

"Basically, yes," Katara nodded her head and kicked the door open. She had been exactly right, the eight guards were relaxing casually in the dilapidated foyer. There was a sudden burst of heat and gun fire as the room was filled with the thick odour of burnt flesh. On one side of the room the entire half of the room was on fire, there were two burnt corpses. The first had only one bare white eye, surrounded by pieces of black flesh. The second was only a skeleton with melting organ and chunks of meat hanging off the bone. In the place where there were once two guards were piles of dust and stray bones. A pair of black teeth sat upon one of the piles.

On the other side of the room there was blood everywhere. Sitting in a chair, behind the main desk, which was starting to catch fire was a headless body, it's brains splattered against the wall. Beside it lay a corpse on the floor with its intestines hanging out. His eyes were wide open, and half of his rib cage was laying open and bare, the other half was missing. Behind the body on the wall was a large circle of blood.

There was one body with half of the leg missing, sparkling with red, and white bone gleaming against the harsh lights, which had been tinted red from the blood spray. The fourth and final body was draped over the desk, half of his skull was missing, showing mangled brains and exposing a white shining eye with a chip of bone jabbing into the side.

Heero surveyed what he had done.

//: How can you do this again? ://

//: I am the Perfect Soldier. ://

//: No you are NOT! Stop building up your cold shell and realize that this is bull. Why did you come here? ://

Heero swallowed and forced himself to look away, he could feel the tears in the back of his eyes, blurring his vision. Heero told himself to shut up, but the sickening feeling in his stomach returned, causing the hot bile to fly up his throat in short bursts.

Controlling the convulsions he turned to Katara, who was cold and hard.

"What the hell kind of bullets are these?" Heero demanded, ignoring the stench and trying not to remember the blood that he was covered in.

"You must have used them before, you can't survive them, they are perfect for moving targets. They explode on contact," Katara ran ahead to the doors.

"No shit," Heero mumbled as he followed her.

//: Targets. That's all they are. ://

//: Human targets with family, friends and a life that you are robbing them of. You have been down this road Heero. ://

Katara turned to face the group, "Luke, take Quatre and Trowa with you and head down that hallway, kill anyone you see, if you find Sage, take her and go to camp, we'll meet up with you there. If you can't find her, go back to camp once you are done, and I'll meet you there," Katara ordered and then took Duo and Heero with her.

Katara whipped open the door. There were two hallways, one going directly to her left and one directly to her right. Katara rushed down the left corridor, while Luke, Quatre and Trowa ran down the right hallway, loading their guns and preparing for the worst.

Heero trailed behind Duo. He looked so different in battle. So angry and violent, it was almost scary. The devilish sparkle he got in his eyes was enough to send shivers down Heero's spine.

After turned a quick corner they were immediately greeted by three guards. They were blown back by a huge gust of wind. Before they could even hit the wall behind them, Katara screamed, "MAGIC USER!"

As soon as they hit the wall, there came a blast of heat, but Katara held up her hand in defiance. The flames halted in front of them in a wall of blaze. The heat blistered across their skin, but Katara grunted and sent a shock of water through the thick vertical blaze..

"What the hell?" but Duo never finished shouting over the sound of steaming water, the humidity was burning and the mist stopped them from seeing anything, but a few seconds late, Heero and Duo saw sparks of light accompanied by the sounds of gunfire.

"Down!" Katara shouted as they all instinctively dropped to the ground and rolled to safety. The mist was still thick in the air and the heat unbearable, but Katara held up her gun and began whispering, "Three, two, one..."

Before Katara could even finish the word one, Duo and Heero were up and jumping over her. As soon as they passed the wall, they could make out the dark outline of the guards. Duo didn't even take time to aim, he just shot in the general direction of the figures. Duo leapt back behind the safety of the wall as soon as there was returning fire.

Heero stood there and forced himself to pull the trigger as the rapid shots bolted out of the gun. He had to grip the gun tightly to avoid backlash. He felt dirty knowing exactly how much pressure to apply to the trigger and how hard the backlash would be. Heero felt disgusted and moved away with Duo, but not because of the gunfire, but because he couldn't bring himself to shoot anymore.

The mist had cleared enough that they could see well, but the ground was soaked with water and the heat was still searing. Katara was up, but never left the safety of the wall, instead she grabbed one of her grenades and pulled the pin. As soon as Heero and Duo were back behind the wall, she threw the ball around the corner and down the hall, she barely had enough time to wave the boys away from the corner before debris flew over them. Katara was down for a split second, but as soon as the major debris had cleared, she was back up with her gun drawn and ready.

Duo and Heero followed Katara, Heero trying not to look at the bleeding bodies. One of them was still moving and groaning in pain. As Katara stepped over him she reached out her hand. In an instant, she clenched her hand into a fist and the man's eyes bulged out and he gasped. As she released her grip, the man sunk back into a lifeless heap.

"I thought you couldn't use elemental magic!" Duo shouted to Katara, but Katara screamed as she was hit by three bullets in a row. Blood splattered mercilessly across her shirt as the bullets pierced through her. Katara hit the ground motionless.

"Katara!" Heero drew up his gun and didn't think. The bullets poured out of the gun relentlessly. Nothing could stop their power as they split the air with speed and deadly precision.

The guard that had been standing there was reduced to a bloodied heap in the hallway. Heero rushed to Katara's side, Duo was already checking her pulse. Heero closed his eyes as he swooned. Her energy level was rising and dropping so fast that it was nauseating.

"What's wrong Heero?" Duo looked Heero over for wounds, but Heero shook his head.

"Its her energy level, she's going to die," Heero ground his teeth as the tears came back. She couldn't die now. He couldn't lose her now. Everything depended on her. He felt so strongly for her it hurt him inside. To see her in pain was so difficult and even saying the words, the very thought that she might not be there at the end of the mission gnawed on the inside of him, clawing at his chest. He needed her in a way that he had ever depended on someone before, everything inside was screaming and crying out, he was so helpless and every second felt like hell as it tortured him inside.

"You can read her energy level?" Duo asked in disbelief.

"Would you guys stop talking about me here, I'm still alive," Both Heero and Duo had assumed from her lack of reaction that she had been unconscious.

"Can you walk?" Heero asked as he helped her up, trying not to agitate her wounds.

"I'll be fine, you just take care of yourself. Remember, I'm a tough bitch, I won't give up that easily," Katara struggled to keep control.

//: You bitch! What are you doing? ://

//: Shut up Emily. I'll deal with you soon enough. ://

//: What is that supposed to mean? ://

//: Are you scared yet? ://

Heero reluctantly removed his hand from her side and let her walk on her own. All he wanted to do was hold her in his arms again, safe, warm, and no pain. Just peace, love and her.

"Let's get this party started!" Katara laughed weakly, the pain was overcoming her, but she had to hold on, she couldn't fail now. Everything depended on what she did now.

"Sounds good to me, let's go kick some ass, the God of Death is back," Duo grinned the off way that he did when he went on his killing sprees and then sped down the hallway.

Heero was followed closely after. As soon as they hit a turn, they both stopped, and Duo peered around the corner. He saw two guards walking down the hall unarmed.

"Two Magic Users," Duo whispered, using his deductive reasoning. (1)

"Tear gas," Heero responded as they both drew their canisters.

A moment later the hall was filled with cloud and Duo and Heero ran out into the open. Firing away, they both watched as the two men fell, spurting endless amounts of blood as one of the bodies involuntarily convulsed.

Heero tried to block out the pain, and the haunting guilt, but pictures of their families flew through his mind. Flashes of memories that weren't his kept appearing, distorting his vision.

A small girl running toward him in front of a small house. A small woman with long hair, waiting for him at the door. Heero shook the thoughts out of his mind. They weren't real.

Were they?

Katara caught up to them quickly and she looked down the halls, "I think I see some doors down there, Duo, check them, I'll check the doors down here, Heero, keep an eye out, if you see anyone come, shoot them."

Duo was down one corridor before Katara could finish, with his gun out and a grenade ready just in case. Heero reloaded his gun and pinned himself up against the wall. It was a 'T' intersection so he could see Katara, Duo and where they had been all at the same time. Heero swallowed and told himself to relax.

//: You can't relax. You are destroying countless lives for revenge. At least in the beginning it was to save lives, now you are just indulging a foolish girl's vengefulness. ://

//: She is not foolish, Sage hurt us all. ://

//: So you kill her. That sounds like you. Pain? Destroy cause of pain. Wonderful tactic. ://

//: I am doing this as part of the team. We are fighting the enemy right now. We are doing what we have to. ://

//: You can lie to everyone else, but you know that you love her, and that is why you are here. You are hurting yourself to make her happy, to help her, and you would die for her if it meant that she be happy. You can say that you are doing this for the team, but you are really doing it for the girl that you don't even get. You love the mystery in her, but she is so full of pain, and every time you get close to her, she hurts you, why? Why? WHY? ://

Heero felt more than saw movement. He turned and saw a shadow coming from the empty hallway. Heero tried to pull the trigger but his body froze.

He was suddenly inside a little white room. He was hot and sweaty, beside him lay the most gorgeous girl he had ever seen. She was screaming in pain, but Heero was just so happy. She was pregnant and she was almost done delivering a baby. He could feel his heart beat speed up as he saw a head coming out. This was his child, and he loved it with all his heart. He was so happy he was nearly crying. The woman was clenching his hand, but through the grunts she looked up to him and smiled, a tear running down her cheek.

"It's a boy."

Heero could barely see the real world anymore. He could feel the hallucinations taking over his mind. Heero forced himself to close his eyes, and open them again. Trying to refocus, he set his face in a glare of grim determination.

Heero could feel the man inching closer, his presence, even his scent, was so strong Heero could taste it. His energy level was soaring higher than it had ever been as the adrenaline pumped through his body.

Just as he finally saw movement, a little girl came around the corner. Her eyes were so soft...

"You," Heero breathed as the memories flooded back. He had killed her. He had killed her dog. He had robbed her of everything she had.

"Fuck you bastard!" She drew a gun and a huge blast was heard through the hallway. Heero felt his back rip open, blood spilling out of him. His shirt tore open as pain shot through his entire body, paralyzing him.

"What the hell?" Duo screamed as more gunfire was heard.

"Heero!" Katara's voice screamed. There was a sudden blast of energy as everything around them quivered with the sheer forced of the physic attack.

The man that had been standing there before was flown back against the wall and he seemed to melt and blend into the wall. Katara let out another grunt as she let out a second blast. His skin began to sizzle and melt as he melded with the wall. Another second later, and the wall was a bloody mess of skin and organ.

"Shit," Heero could barely make out Katara's voice through the darkness.

"He has fucking wings," Duo gasped as Heero realized what the ripping was. It wasn't a bullet. It was the wings from the mark. The mark was a living thing inside of him, and it came out.

Heero could feel the wing retracting back into his back, crawling underneath his skin.

"What the hell was that?" Duo couldn't take his eyes off of Heero. He was so shocked that he was stumbling backward.

"Shit," Katara repeated as Heero staggered up.

Heero didn't reward Duo's question with an answer as he picked his gun back up.

"That was so weird, it just came out of your back," Duo reached out to touch a scaly wing that hadn't fully gone back into Heero's back, but Heero pulled away. Everything was fuzzy and he was so confused.

"Katara," Heero turned just in time to see her collapse to the ground.

"What the hell was that?" Duo could still make out portions of the man. She had melted him into the wall.

"You can't use your power like that Katara, you'll kill yourself," Heero checked her wounds, breathing and her pulse quickly, she wouldn't make it much longer, "I'm taking you back."

"No you aren't, I will kill Sage if it is the last thing I do," Katara grunted through the pain, "Remember... tough bitch?"

"Killing her will kill you," Heero protested, but Katara's eyes shone with defiance and determination, and Heero knew that it was a lost battle, "No more magic."

Katara said nothing as Heero lifted her up off the floor. Katara tried not to touch his back. She would need to ask Dusk what the hell was going on.

Heero helped Katara limp down the hall that she had been checking.

"I can feel her, she is so close, she's just down another hall I know it," Katara took a sharp gasp in, as she clutched her side. She was losing a lot of blood.

"Katara," Duo went to help her, but she waved him off, "What about you Heero? Are you hurt?" Duo asked. Heero's back was about to give out from the wings, but he could handle it. He had been through worse.

Heero never answered Duo's question as he felt Katara gain her footing again, and she began to walk without his help. She turned to him and tried to smile through the anguish. She was right, she was a tough bitch.

Hesitantly, Heero let her walk on her own, as she led the way to where she felt Sage was. As soon as they turned the corner, they saw two guards outside a door. From inside the room, they could hear muffled screams. Duo was first to pull out his gun and shoot one of the guards in the side of the head, but the other one was already moving before Duo could react.

Jumping up, he began running along the wall towards them, sending icicles flying towards them. One of them pierced through Duo's shoulder, and he stumbled backwards. As soon as the contact was made, another icicle jabbed into his thigh, and he was down on the floor. Katara was already maneuvering to get behind him, but he was too quick and jumped over her head and landed behind her, and took out a knife and jabbed it into the back of her chest. Katara's scream was mumbled with the sound of blood filling her throat. Katara tried to talk, but all that came out was gushing blood. The guard smiled wickedly as he slowly raised her up, off the ground by the knife, it slowly slid up her back and dug deeper into her lungs and heart.

"Katara!" Heero felt everything inside him reach out and then all that Heero saw was white. The hallway around him exploded with energy and heat.

When Heero opened his eyes, he was up against the far wall, and his head was bleeding. The remaining guard that had stabbed Katara was lying smoking on the other side of the hall, dead. Katara was already struggling to her feet. Heero rushed to her side, he was dizzy, and he couldn't balance, but he tried to help her up anyway. Duo limped to them, trying not to grunt and appear in as much pain as he did. Duo tried to say something, but the pain was overtaking him.

Katara pulled herself from Heero's grasp and opened the door to the room, leaving Heero staring at the blood that she had left on his hand.

Inside the room Sage was tied to a bed, and one of the guards was in the process of removing her clothing. Sage was screaming through a gag and kicking at the guard.

Katara held up her hand and sent him flying through the wall, right into the hallway. After a moment's pause, she could hear him rustling in the pile of debris. Katara walked to the huge, roughly circular hole in the wall and held out her hand again. He was barely conscious, but she still took the liberty of jerking her hand to the side, causing his neck to snap like a twig.

Sage's purple, red, blue, and tear streaked face begged out for Katara to come and rescue her. Katara slowly and mechanically walked over to Sage and removed the gag.

"Thank you so much Katara, I am so sorry, I'm so glad you came to rescue me, I was so scared," but Katara punched Sage in the face to shut her up.

"I only have one thing to say to you," Katara clenched her hands into fists, "Bitch!" Katara spat at Sage and then punched her again.

Heero stood at the door, watching Katara beat Sage to a pulp. Heero stood there, remembering how Sage had healed him and how she was so happy. He had never expected her to every turn on them, or for things to turn out like this. He knew that Katara was going to kill her, and he was going to watch, because he couldn't pry himself away from the sight. Duo was soon by his side, both of them condoning what Katara was doing merely by watching and not reacting. Although Duo and Heero didn't make a move to stop what was happening, and both of them knew what Katara was intending to do, both of them felt a twinge of pain as Katara ruthlessly beat Sage, despite her cries for mercy.

"Katara!" Sage sobbed jaggedly, "Stop this! I'm..." Sage felt the impact of another punch, "...sorry!"

Katara stood over her and panted. She was losing a lot of blood, and she was nearly dead. Katara took in a deep breath and held out her hand.

"No..." Sage whispered in disbelief as she shook her head.

A huge ball of light illuminated the room to the point where it was blinding, and then there was nothing. Heero blinked quickly and tried to refocus his eyesight, but what he saw horrified him. Where Sage's head used to be, was half a face, with no skin, one eye lay next to what used to be the throat, and the other eye was rolled off to the side. Her frontal lobe was completely gone, and then cradled in the back of her skull was the pink and black goop that used to be her brain. In the mush was the crystal that she had worn as part of her crown. Heero swallowed as the stench hit him full force. Katara reached into Sage's skull and pulled forth the bloodied and burnt stone. Rubbing it in her hands she clenched her teeth and another wave of energy blasted around them. When Heero opened his eyes, he saw Katara crush the last bit of the stone between her fingers, like sand. On the ground below them was a small pile of dust left from it. Heero could feel the very souls of so many fairies passing through him. Contained within that stone was the souls of thousands of fairies, and now he was feeling each one rushing through him. Little pieces of memories, but mostly feelings rushed over him. Mostly anger, fear and hatred.

Heero could barely register what was happening as Luke, Quatre and Trowa were suddenly around them, and then they were outside the building. Nothing really felt like it was happening. It was flying past him so fast, yet it felt as if he was watching it in slow motion as he stood outside in the coolness of the night. He was so detached, he could barely hear the voices around him.

The only thing that he could make out through the confusion was Luke's frantic words, "Katara's dead!"

~End Chapter 16 - Revise and Demise~

(1) I believe strongly that Duo is very smart and not the dumbass that everyone protrays him to be. SDDI supporter!!!

Author's Notes: Well, that took me so long to write. Pyro George both loved and hated that one. Strangely, I feel detached like Heero.
