Two Worlds
Chapter 21 - Peace
Heero unlocked the door to his apartment.
"Hey, Heero! It's Duo, you will never guess what! I proposed to Hilde when I got back, and she said yes! We're going to wait a year or so before actually getting married, but we're having this huge party Saturday, you should really come! You know where to find me, see ya!" the answering machine clicked off.
//: Where am I? ://
Duo was getting married. Trowa was back in the circus. He had been known all over the colonies and Earth for quite some time now. Quatre was keeping his promise, he was on his way to a Peace Conference held in Russia, where the world leaders would gather and discuss how to keep the Earth and the Colonies unified.
//: Why am I not at peace? ://
Wufei had stayed in the Valley of the Angels. He was helping to protect the dragons now. He was also helping Luke ensure that the Fallen Angels didn't cause anymore trouble.
//: I am not needed. ://
Dusk had stayed with Tusk, and was even called to be on the high council. She was helping them rebuild their destroyed town and was going to bring new ideas and insight into the lives of the sheltered Ancients. It was amazing that only three or four Ancients died during the attack, the rest were all spared.
//: Is there a God? ://
Luke was fighting against the Fallen Angels, and he even said that as soon as he killed King Dirk Lowe, he would take the throne and lead the Valley of Angels into a time of peace, and justice.
//: Is there any justice in the world? Is there one person who is not corrupt at the very heart? ://
Heero had arrived back to Earth yesterday. There was only one message from Duo, and that was it. The doctors had no missions for him.
//: I am so tired. ://
Heero felt the dragon stir restlessly in his back. He was so tired. He had gone to the nearest shuttle port and had slept the whole night. When he awoke, he left for his flight home on L1. Heero sat down at his laptop and immediately went to the internet.
A few clicks later, he smiled softly and pressed the enter button.
//: 3 million credits to Amnesty International... 2 million credits to World Wildlife Federation... and the rest goes to the NCCAFV (1). ://
Heero reminisced about his hacking days during the war. But that was all over now.
//: Where do I belong? ://
Heero wrote a quick e-mail to the doctors and then turned off his laptop. Quietly getting up from his seat, Heero walked into the kitchen. His whole body ached, and his mind was numb with fatigue. Heero made some coffee for himself, but Heero lost taste for it almost immediately. It seemed so dull and useless. Heero put the cup on the counter by the sink and walked across the hallway to his small room. Heero slid the door open.
//: Is there a God? ://
Heero could still vaguely hear Quatre and Duo talking about it. Before Heero had been so sure, but now he was doubting himself. The beast in his back stirred again and Heero felt the energy flow through him. Knowledge filled his mind as Heero took a deep breath. Just as he had thought, he was right. He now knew the answer.
Heero glanced lazily up at his bed. At the end of the bed sat Relena, not as he last saw her, but beautiful and healthy. On her lap sat a freshly groomed and cleaned Peace, with a sparkling smile.
Heero shook his head softly and crossed his room slowly. He was so tired. Sliding underneath the covers of his bed Heero closed his eyes for the last time.
"Thank you Heero," Peace whispered as Heero let out a deep breath.
He was finally at peace.

Author's Notes: Thank you to everyone who told me to keep writing, and stuck by the good chapters and the bad. I am so glad to have it all over. Now onto my other story which I am going to try to publish! Again, thank you to everyone! Including Steph, Smoke and Mirrors, Heero's Soul, Lupi, and could I ever forget, PYRO GEORGE! E-mail me and tell me if I missed explaining anything. I am thinking of an epilogue. Do I need one?
