Why Must You Scream?
Hear it as it whispers through the night.
It is the call of a child as she cries.
The haunting melody plays –
Another pain is issued.
Why must there be screams?
Why must there be pain?
Could I take your pain just once?
Can you let me in your head so you can live?
The children cry aloud and they won’t be comforted.
The children scream and they won’t be silenced.
I know your pain young child; I have walked these streets too.
A long time ago my foot caressed this pavement.
Why do you scream?
Why do you cry?
Why is there pain?
What do you feel?
I can try to remember it.
I can try to feel it again.
I can’t feel it at all though.
It is gone in sands of time.
But I hear you cry and I hear you scream.
What have they done to you?
Why have they done so?
Can I help – please?
Try to turn back the clock.
Remember those laughs that we shared.
Try to feel it all again.
Try to know happiness again – young child.
