HEREFORD LEDGE  STYLE CARAVAN

H . Jones and Sons of Hereford built the original full-size vehicle.  The model was constructed in 1/8th scale from commercially obtained plans.  This version of the ledge caravan design was used by a number of makers.  The variation was to fit a type of overhanging 'shelf' along the outsides including the front and rear porches.  These fitments were known as "penny boards".  This interesting variation in design was the spur for building this particular model.  The decoration and motifs, inside and out are of a freelance designs as the plans did not indicate the detailed nature of the decoration.  However, this model is highly decorated inside and out including the painted ceiling, all in the typical gypsy tradition.  The roof may be raised or taken off to facilitate the viewing all the inside details.  The construction is in hardwood, with brass for the metal work.

The interior is fully furnished including a metal stove, etched mirrors, glass windows and paintings of country flowers on cupboard and panels.
