......'This is a wind and kite surfers paradise. The strong western breezes and long, clear, sandy beaches are unbeatable. Everyday, hundreds of kite surfers took to the water - all colours of the rainbow, the kites gently blowing around in the sky. On cloudy days the sea was often a deep green colour, with white horses riding waves that were blown up by the constant breeze; but on rare still days the sea was deep blue and the sky had a luminous quality. we were after all on the Costa de la Luz, the coast of light......... |

.....'Up and up we drove, enjoying far-reaching fantastic views all around because we were now in the snow covered mountain range. We zig-zagged the final stretch until we came at last to the ski village of Pradollano - and two ridiculously small, snow covered mini-roundabouts. The ground here was very icy and jovial skiers were mindlessly milling about in groups, quite unconcerned that we might mow them down at any moment. Cars had come up behind us, so we were back in that whisky-swigging situation of manouvering the Beast in dire circumstances'. .............................'now we have to do a series of leap-frog type shunts, jumping our eight ton, thirty foot motorhome, back and forth between a stone wall and a ten foot drop, with skiers trying to dash between the gaps, and all on thick ice. Need I say more - No - except that we had to repeat this at a second roundabout although by this time the steering wheel was slippy with sweat, I was searching for the Pina Colada again and Jack had his head under a cushion.' |
