Squirrels at Shanely Park (Fall 2001)

Shanley Park is the vast green plot of grassy field behind Porter Hall where the ECE Thursday lab guys would hang out after ECE lecture, before lab - studying, sleeping, catching squirrels and BBQing them. I remember distinctly Yilin asking me before if we could BBQ and eat squirrels.. hmm... interesting thought..

Anyway, Jiamin and I found this cute little squirrel foraging for nuts in the cold one fine Saturday afternoon at Shanley Park. It was fortunate I had my telephoto out that day, so I leopard-crawled towards the little bunny, aimed and fired. Hand-holding a telephoto at 300mm zoom out in the cold chilly Pittsburgh wind is no joke - especially waiting for the little squirrel to look into the camera. But it paid off eventually... *enjoyZ*

Looking the other direction now...
Looking for an escape route...

Closer up this time..
As I crept closer and closer.. "gong xi fa cai", the squirrel told me, "hong bao yi ge lai.."

Finally looking at the camera..
Finally! Hi, bunny! Kua si mi?
