14. Block Selection

To make a selection of text, hold down <Shift> while using the full set of the navigation keys. As you move the cursor the selection area will expand or contract.

If you wish to do selection of a square region, press <Ctrl+Shift+F8> once. "COL" string will appear on the status line to indicate the change of the selection mode.
