Ostara
(circa March 21)
Tools:
Two candles for the Goddess (Green, placed on the left side of
the altar) and God (Red, placed on the right side of the altar).
Incense
Small potted plant
Light the candles and incense. Set the potted plant in the center of the
altar. Place flowers on the altar and around the circle. Fill the cauldron
with spring water and flowers. Cast a circle. Using whatever words you
are comfortable with invoke the deities.
As you stand before the altar and gaze upon the potted plant say:
Great Goddess, you have freed yourself from the dark days of winter.
Now is the time of rebirth, when the fragrance of flowers is carried
on the wind. By your magick, life renews itself, O Great Goddess.
The God awakens, eager and bursting with the promise of summer.
Touch the plant and connect with its energy. Visualize that you are
traveling inside its leaves and stems. Try to sense the life giving forces
of nature at work within it.
While still touching the plant say:
Mother Goddess and Father God, I walk the earth in friendship.
Through this plant I ask that you instill within me a love for all
living things. Teach me to treasure the Earth.
Work magick at this time if you wish. Then celebrate a simple feast
of cakes and ale. Then release the circle.
