Bandit Flight, Summer '99
From Luis "Chaff" Peralta
Lieutenant Luis "Chaff" Peralta was the only officer at camp with one of those old air force caps. Our trip to the Wetaskiwin air museum was the only time he wore the thing. He immediately got the nickname of "Captain Peralta, of Peralta airlines". After camp, I was lucky enough to have found him on internet, and he sent me these pictures over ICQ.![]() We wake up much too early at Regional Gliding School. When our flight has morning shift, we have to get up at 5:30am, stuff down digusting food (aka breakfast), then sprint for the bus. It gets worse when you're on advanced party, because then you have to leave fifteen minutes before that. Once at the field, we do our daily briefings, pull out the tow planes and the gliders. The tow planes need to warm up first, and here's a shot of one doing just that. ![]() Scout six, on the hold. Judging from the small gathering in front of the plane, it is unlikely that much was happening at this point. Another scout, as well as Bandit Van, is in the background. ![]() A Scout flies at sunset. This is undoubtly the most artistic pictures on this entire site. It's one of those shots that makes any pilot want to jump in a plane and fly, unless you're not night rated, which most of us won't be for a while. ;-( |
