Description of Heaths role:
Heath plays Gabriel Martin, son of Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson).
Gabriel is born in 1758 on the plantation of his family in Fresh Water/ South Carolina. He's the oldest of seven children and his life's never been easy.
He's used to be the protector for his siblings and has a deep relationship to his mother until she dies when he's 13.
With that his sense of duty to his family increased even more.
His brother Thomas who's been 4 years younger than he, is also one of his best friends.
Gabriel's father Benjamin (Mel Gibson) was a hero in the last war he can remember (between the French and the Indians) and he isn't sure why. But he 's just having one wish: to be like him!
Someday he stand up against George and his taxes. He's thinking that no foreign king has the right to control Americans so he's fighting for the cause of liberty and he's willing to die within this service.
