Over the years some of the reader of this website have tried to contact me for some information. And to be honest I only did what i could do.

I suggested they see a professional to confirm if they really have that problem.

Some are doting parents, others are just out there to search for answers.

Here are their replies. Please note i've altered their names to provide confidentiality. Recommendation read from the bottom page up.

Good Luck to Mr. T!

My work experience has been miserable. I guess its my fate to always run into problems with incompetently insecure lady boss. Hate the office politics so much i've lost hope in achieving any positive goals in life. What bout u? Experiencing something similar or am i loosing it?

On the issue of relationship- I'm not sure what i want.

What are the primary reasons that made you think you have ADHD? For me, I have difficulty moving forward because I have millions of questions in my head... A direct cure for me would be an opportunity to debate those issues with a genius or someone highly successful. Got any smartass friends?

Dear Mr.T,

I'll setup a forum if i have the time. So how are you coping with your ADD in your working and relationship sense? So far have you taken any initiatives on dealing with it? If so any progress. I'm very inMr.Tsted. Thanks for replying by the way, and the advice on the 10sec doctors.

Take care,

Hi Author,

Of course I remember you. I've decided not to waste my money on 10sec doctors. He definitely knows nothing about ADHD because any psychiatrist can tell you that a 10 sec diagnosis is bullshit. In addition, ADHD is difficult to pin point because there are many sub-types especially when you are an adult.

If I really have to see a shrink, i'd rather spend more $ & take a plane to the US for a reliable genius doctor than getting a free service from an incompetant local doctor. Even Badawi sends his wife to the US for operation rather than the best local doctor that money can buy.

A doctor that knows about ADHD and a doctor that is passionate about discovering this rather new condition makes a huge difference. Doctors who knows about ADHD are those that are most likely to make $ prescribing drugs rather than trying to find the best solution for each individual needs.

If you really want to understand yourself, I think the best way is to start an ADHD Discussion group that meets to help each other discover what others are lacking. Its free and would benefit all participants.

Hi,  This is Author here, in case you don't remember I'm the one who refer you the psychiatrist at university hospital. I was wondering how  are you doing now? Did you make appointment and went for that session? Take care, Author. Mr. T <Mr.Mr.T@yahoo.com> wrote:
Sound like your shrink really dont know much bout anything except less work. He was probably looking for signs of down syndrome or ADD. i'm still deciding whether i should go because ultimately the final decision is whether to take drugs to control or to let it be. what i know bout ADHD is that it doesnt mean 'inability to understand'. Just that ADHD sufferers have a harder time focusing on something not as exciting because they are very hyperactive and like to multitask. You can still graduate with a degree or even a PHD. As for me, my most obvious sign is the inability to sit still and i get bored with something easilly. Problems with organizing words in sentences efficiently is also sign although it could also mean poor education.

Here are some highlights i got from the National Institute of Mental Health,US. If you wish to know more, read the 16 page DOC file i attached.

-A child with ADHD faces a difficult but not insurmountable task ahead. In order to achieve his or her full potential, he or she should receive help, guidance, and understanding from parents, guidance counselors, and the public education system.
-Typically, adults with ADHD are unaware that they have this disorderthey often just feel that it's impossible to get organized, to stick to a job, to keep an appointment. The everyday tasks of getting up, getting dressed and ready for the day's work, getting to work on time, and being productive on the job can be major challenges for the ADHD adult.
-Children who are inattentive have a hard time keeping their minds on any one thing and may get bored with a task after only a few minutes. If they are doing something they really enjoy, they have no trouble paying attention. But focusing deliberate, conscious attention to organizing and completing a task or learning something new is difficult.
  • Often becoming easily distracted by irrelevant sights and sounds
  • Often failing to pay attention to details and making careless mistakes
  • Rarely following instructions carefully and completely losing or forgetting things like toys, or pencils, books, and tools needed for a task
  • Often skipping from one uncompleted activity to another.
  • Unless you are always a positive thinker, when it comes to mental health, i think selecting a Genius shrink is important. A good solution is worth every penny in my account but all the money in my account is not gonna be enough if it's a so called solution that makes u feel like a white rabbit on a drug trail. (repetitive bad experiences with local doctors)

    Cheers,
    Mr.T

    Dear Mr.T,
I used to think that I had ADHD prior to my visit to the psychiatrist. And you know what that Indian shrink did, he diagnosed me in 10 seconds -- when I had mentioned that i had a college diploma.
He said I had no ADHD -- and would not have make it thus far in education if I had it. And yeah, I had suffered through math and accounting classes too. I flunked them during my final diploma semester  and I took 1 year to clear them.
As for offending people, that's another thing we have in common, recalling on a recent incident that took place but lets not get into that. And finally the last thing that that indian shrink asked was -- was I depressed?
To be honest, I didn't regret going to University Hospital that day. It was something I had to experience for myself -- and I hope you do too. And if you have seen the shrink in University Hospital that I recommended. Please return the favour and tell me how did it go? Because there is not a day that goes by -- that I wonder if that psychiatrist made a mistake.
In retrospect, I've moved on with my life. I've continued my degree courses and have gotten myself into a relationship even. I'll be graduating next year -- so best of luck to you and your journey of self-discovery.

    Take care,

    Dear Author,

i'm honored. Actually it took me a while to assemble all those. hollywood movies has been a major source of influence in my life. i learned most of my english there. Plus, i have a college degree. suffered through math & account classes. i cant confidently write something without Words spell check to help with grammatical errors. whatever i can put down in writings i cant efficiently and fluently communicate it verbally. takes abit of time to put words into proper correct sentences. if i say things just off my head i risk offending someone and not know it. I do hope that its just me expecting too much in life rather than having a disability. thanks alot for replying & your recommendation.

    On a personal note,

I went to hospital university myself to get my self checked on the recommendation of my university counsellor. Turns out, he diagnosed me in 10 seconds and said that i did not have it. Reason being, if i had it -- I wouldn't have a College Diploma in Science in the first place, let alone graduated from High school.

He was an Indian psychiatrist --  and he had the impression i was in depression -- I thought. So you can try out your luck. Hopefully she isn't really suffering from ADD.

P.S if you are not satisfied with the results. I'll recommend some non-profit organization like KIWANIS and MALAYSIA CARE

    Hello,

I read through your web page to learn more about ADD, because my daughter is having problems at school. She started Year One on Jan. 3rd, and immediately the teachers found she had difficulty in paying attention in class (and all the other traits discussed).

A few close friends suggested I sought a child psychiatrist / psychologist help. I was trying to look them up on line but to no avail.

I would be grateful if you can recommend a place/ a name for me to start.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mr.Z

There are quite a few more but I'm not sure where i put them. Anyway, best of luck to you all.
