Difficulty: Easy. Flat, paved rail trail.
Directions:
From Route 1, north or south, just before the Gillis Bridge over the Merrimack River in Salisbury turn onto Friedenfels St. The parking area is on your right just before the stone arched tunnel under the old rail bed.
The Old Eastern Marsh Trail extends from the Merrimack River to Mudnock Road along the old Eastern Railroad, part of the Boston & Maine Railroad. It passes through pristine sections of the Great Marsh with beautiful views and world class bird watching. For more information visit; OLD EASTERN MARSH TRAIL .
