Directions:  

Southbound: From Route 15 (Merit Parkway), take exit 65. Left at the end of the ramp onto Route 150. Left at 2nd traffic light into the Community Lake/ Linear Trail parking lot. Park all the way down at the end of the parking lot for a shorter trip, as the trail begins next to the entrance. 
Northbound: From Route 15 (Merit Parkway), take exit 65. Left at the end of the ramp, straight at the light into the Community Lake/Linear Trail parking lot.

The Quinnipiac River Linear Trail is a planned trail to run through Wallingford and Meriden. Starting from the beginning of the trail, which is on your right as you enter the parking area, check out the trail map. This map shows both the completed trail and proposed extensions. The trail then passes by the Community Lake on your right and goes around the park on your left. After a 1/4 mile you come to an intersection. Left takes you back to the parking lot, so turn right. You'll pass by the Labyrinth to your right , then cross over a bridge at a 1/2 mile. Route 15 parallels the trail on the left. There are several informational sign posts along the trail and you pass by one for the Wildlife Sanctuary at 0.7 miles. You come to the Quinnipiac River after a little over  a mile, where there are some benches located. A new iron bridge takes you over the river where you come to an intersection. The paved trail continues left through a tunnel underneath Route 15 and ends next to the river at about 1 1/4 miles. Future plans call for continuing the trail northward. Right, from the intersection, is a gravel trail which you take to find the Letterbox. A couple of more benches are located here overlooking the river. Pass by them and go through a metal gate. Here the gravel trail bears left. Just a ways down this trail, a metal fence blocks the trail. Just before this fence, on your right, spot a clump of trees. The front tree is split in two. Between the two split trees, lift up two flat rocks to reveal the Quinnipiac River Linear Trail Letterbox. Please replace both rocks as they help protect the box from damage.
