Our plans are broken up by timing. Depending on how much time you are willing to put into the training of your dogs, and how far you want them to go, please select either the Border Collie plan or the German Shepard plan. Each plan comes with updates every class. When you register for classes, you will be informed of which night you will take your and/or your dog's classes, and you will receive an email explaining what happened in the class, and how your dog did if you are part of the German Shepard plan. Border Collie Planners will receive a short email saying either that you and your dog are either ready or not ready to move to the next plan. You may also choose to do the Introduction and the Final Steps, which are both strongly recommended. To officially graduate from the GCC Agility Program you must take Final Steps and pass the test (the course). The Introduction - $15 per dog Agility is a very intense sport, and requires focus, athleticism and will. We offer a short introduction to agility, which briefly walks the dogs through all the equipment they will encounter, as well as giving you, the owner, a quick overview of what will be needed from you, and the time and money you will need to put into it. The Border Collie - $20 per plan per dog The Border Collie plan is for the people who, like their dogs, have tons of energy and are raring to go. These people happily spend their afternoon playing with their dogs, and learning their part in agility alongside their dogs. The First Step This will introduce your dog to every piece of equipment, and, unlike the Introduction, they get to actually try every piece briefly. As the owner, you will learn how to direct your dog over the element. The Platforms This is the second step, where we revist the A-frame and the Dogwalk. The dogs are allowed to go over the elements again, with their owner directing them. Once both you and the dog feel comfortable, the instructor will set up a tiny course with two A-frames and a Dogwalk, allowing you and your dog to race over them. Remember, this, and the following steps take time, and may need to be extended over two sessions. We will not charge more for this. Going Through Going Through is always lots of fun. It incorporates the Tunnel, and the Tire Jump. Owners are shown how to manouvre their dogs through, while the dogs are given time to inspect the tunnel, which can be very scary for dogs. The tire jump is set very low, around 10", and the dogs are allowed to walk through it. Once they gain confidence, the tire is slowly raised in height, and eventually dogs can jump through at the standard height. A course is set up with everything you have covered so far. Ups And Downs This bit includes the See-Saw, the Table and the Chute. We teach owners how to steer their dogs to the obstacle, and the dogs are taught how to tackle each item. The See-Saw is very scary for dogs, and takes two sessions minimum. We charge an extra $10 for the second session, but if the instuctor decides your dog needs more time, it won't cost you any more. The table comes next. A very simple obstacle, the table requires your dog to jump up onto the platform, and lie down or sit, usually for 5 seconds. The chute is quite a bit like the tunnel, and training is very short. Once this section had been completed, a course will be set up, with everything you have covered so far. The German Shepard - $40 per plan per dog The German Shepard plan is for the people who don't have enough time to learn with their dogs. The German Shepard plan includes the same plans as the Border Collie, as well as an extra one. Your dog is assigned a handler, who you can meet if you like. The handler will take your dog through all the steps, including the final test, unless you wish to take our Catch Up program. If you do, you can take the test with your dog, instead of the handler. It only costs $20, and it allows you to learn the movements, keywords and signals your dog has been taught at his classes. It is six hours in total, but you can break it up into six hour long classes, schedulable at any time. The Final Steps - $20 per dog This is a short section, which is only a course, with everything you have covered. The course is a test, and you and your dog must pass to receive a certificate. (It will say you and your dog's names,) If you don't pass, it isn't a big deal, you simply take the test again, free of charge. |
