THIRTEEN IDENTIFYING MARKS OF THE CHURCH
Here is a list that I keep around that identifies thirteen marks of the true church of God. These
marks are evident today in the Primitive Baptist Churches around the country.
- Those who give signs of repentance toward God and Faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of
God.
Colossians 1:7-10
- True Baptism in water, in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Mark 16:16-18
- Partaking of Communion, bread, wine, and the washing of the Saints feet.
John 13:5-15
- Maintainance of strict discipline.
John 15:5-15 Psalms 15
- All local Churches being united by an inward bound of love.
Ephesians 3:14-19
- Separation of Church and State, Independents of each Church from all State control.
- His true followers are generally poor, obscure, unlearned, afflicted, despised, and
persecuted.
Zephaniah 3:12 Jeremiah 33:24
- Possessing an humble Spirit both of Ministry and Deacons.
Colossians 3:12
- Possessing of an humble God-called, and fully Qualified Ministry.
1st Peter 4:11 1st Timothy 4:6
- While the Churches should help the Ministry, They were not salaried but labored for their
own support.
Luke 10:7 1st Timothy 5:17-18
- True Churches do not believe in sending out Ministers to save sinners, but the Holy Spirit
and Lord will direct them to shepherding the Lambs and sheep of God.
Romans 10:14-15 Hebrews 5:4
- That the Church is the only religious organized body of Christ.
Songs of Solomon 6:9
- We further believe our headquarters is in heaven, and our King still reigns, and no man or
men have the authority over the Church.
