Perbaikan Iklim Kelas yang Kurang Demokratis di Sekolah Dasar ‘X’ Padang Utara

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to improve the classroom climate to be more democratic. The hypothesis was “the exemplary democratic teacher behavior in managing daily classroom activities and the use of group discussion method in the class would improve democracy of the classroom”.
The research was conducted through several steps; firstly, to ask the teachers ready to make a change; then to train the teachers to behave democratically and to use group discussion method in a real class; The next step was stepping the first and second cycle which respectively consisted of deciding activities (plan), implementing the activities, monitoring and evaluating the action using observation and questionnaire to reflect the succes of the research.
The study founded that the democratic teacher behavior and the use of group discussion method improved the classroom climate to be more democratic.
