Entry for January 7, 2007
I knew we should have brought the camera!  Late this afternoon, after we discovered we weren't digesting our delicious healthy mahi-mahi lunch because we hadn't gotten any exercise, we decided to go for a walk without any destination in mind.  We ended up walking the length of the Malecon, the city's boardwalk studded with interesting sculptures and lined with trendy shops and restaurants.  On the way back, just at sunset, we had stopped to rest on a park bench and heard music.  A block away, on the town square, we found a big brass band belting out salsas, rumbas and merengues, with a huge crowd of locals of every age and size listening and dancing.   We don't know if this was something special for Dia de los Reyes (the holiday we call Epiphany) or if they do this every Sunday, but it was so nice to see something so genuine.  After joining in for one cha-cha, we sashayed our way back up the 250 steps to our condo.  Sorry, no pictures of Diana stepping on Allen's feet!
