Entry for April 10, 2007
You gotta love a place where, in the space of a morning walk, one can admire the frescoes in a Gothic church, visit two palaces (one of which now hosts art exhibits and plays English-language films), get a free guided tour of a Baroque cathedral, step into a 14th century granary that was converted into a church, examine the goods for sale at an open-air market and pet the nose of a bronze boar for good luck, and watch kids old and young go round and round on an antique carousel in the town square. Yes, I did all that this morning (photos added to the link from my last posting), plus picked up a bus route map, found a gluten-free restaurant to try tonight, returned a DVD, shopped for a few items at the supermarket and hit up the ATM – and returned home three hours later. Just in time for Allen’s scrumptious potato-leek soup, and an afternoon of writing!
