MINOTAURS
These half-bull, half-human creatures
are based on the Minotaur that lived in the labyrinth built by King Minos
in Greek mythology. Like centaurs, there aren't many minotaur toys.
Action Figures
-
Minotaur (Advanced Dungeons and
Dragons; LJN/TSR, 1983)
-
Minotaur (Hercules: The Legendary
Journeys; Toy Biz, 1995)
-
Minotaur (Yu-Gi-Oh; Bandai [Japan],
1999?; this line has a larger figure [5"?] that comes separately, as well
as a 3" figure that comes in a set)
-
Talruum Minotaur (Magic: The Gathering;
Resaurus, 2000; not out yet but should be any day now. This will
come in a standard version, and at least one variant [Minotaur Shaman])
As I mentioned in the centaur category,
there is a small centaur or minotaur (four-legged, but with horns like
a bull) that came with a Medieval Knights set from Zellers. I
also have a 6" tall old brittle plastic minotaur that I found at a flea
market. I'll have more info and a scan of that when I get back to
Victoria in the spring.
Other Toys
-
Minotaur (Monster in My Pocket
[series 2]; late 1980s?)
-
Minotaur and Crown Treasure (Advanced
Dungeons & Dragons; LJN/TSR, 1983)
I think the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh line from Bandai may
also have a 2", non-articulated rubber toy in a series that are randomly
packed, but I'm not certain of that. (I don't own any of this line yet,
but they look cool)
