The Last American Frontier
Pribilof Islands, Alaska

Back in the mid 20th century, the United States took control of a vast expanse of unexplored wilderness. Much to the dismay of the Canadians and the Russians.. there just happened to be a whole lot of precious metals and other natural resources located there. Suckers!!
This installment of images is from the Pribilof Islands, specifically St. Paul. The "Pribs" are located over 700 miles W of Anchorage, and 200 miles North of the Aleutians in the Bering Sea. The islands are a popular destination for birdwatchers and marine mammal enthusiasts. The local fishing industry brings in thousands of dollars in Halibut (some can be up to 600lbs and 8ft long!) as well as King Crab.
