Tim Clarke - Goalkeeper
Tim started his career with Halesowen back in the late eighties. He was influential in the club's promotion from the Dr. Martens Midland division back in the 1989-90 season. In October 1990 he made a move to first division Coventry City for £25,000 but failed to make his mark at the club due to the popularity of Steve Ogrizovic. Huddersfield Town signed Tim for £15,000 in July 1991 and made over 80 appearances for the Beagles before returning to Halesowen Town on a free transfer in July 1993. However his stay was short as he left for Shrewsbury Town in October of that year. Later he joined Scunthorpe and then in 1999 joined Conference outfit Kidderminster Harriers. Made numerous appearances in the league for Harriers but lost his place to Stuart Brock and was released in the summer of 2001 when he joined Halesowen Town. Tim had an eventful summer in 2001; first he got through to the Masters Finals with Coventry in July and joined up with Barry Town on loan for their two Champions League ties with the Azerjabani champions and FC Porto.
Clint Davis - Goalkeeper
Australian born keeper on loan from Birmingham City as cover for Tim Clarke.
Mark Garvey - Goalkeeper
Youngster who joined the club from the local leagues. Has recently been out on loan at Kenilworth Town.
Jason Burnham - Defender
Jason, who signed for Halesowen Town in March 2001 has been captain at The Grove in his short spell with the club and currently deputises for Lee Collins. Burnham started his career at Northampton Town making a couple of appearances for the cobblers. Left Sixfields for St. Georges Lane, Worcester in 1996. Was player of the year at Worcester City in the 1997/8 season but left for £3,000 in 1999 for Boston United. Failed to make an impact at York street and left to join Atherstone United. Had a brief stint with the Adders to join Cambridge City. Returned to the Midlands again with Rugby United and later Halesowen Town in 2001. Usually a left back Burnham can play in the central defence.
Richard Colwell - Defender
Skilful right-back signed from Interlink Alliance side Halesowen Harriers in the summer. Made his first appearance in a Yeltz shirt in a pre-season friendly in 1999 after being released from Coventry City. Committed and reliable Richard has rightly earned his place in the starting eleven.
Lee Collins - Defender
Lee joined the club in the summer of 2001 from Nationwide Division 2 outfit Stoke City. Lee, Ross's older brother started his career in the same youth team as Lee Hendrie and Les Hines at Aston Villa. Stoke City requested his services but the reluctant Villa stated that they would have a percentage of his selling on fee. Collins very rarely made a first team appearances for the Potters and moved to Moor Green on loan for the back end of the 2000/1 season. Brendan Phillips signed him in July and made him club captain. In his short time he has forged a good partnership with former Redditch defender Lee Knight.
Ross Collins - Defender
Ross is Lee's younger brother and started his career at Halesowen Town playing in the now defunct youth team. Started making first team appearances during the 1997/8 season but had a fair run in the side in the 1998/9 season due to injuries. Only made a handful of appearances in the 1999/0 season but made himself a first team regular in 2000/1 playing in a variety of positions outside his natural defensive role.
John Newall - Defender
A trialist during the 2000 close season John made a permanent move to Halesowen in November 2001 from Bloxwich United. He had previously been with QPR and Atherstone United. He is a right back.
Karl Brennan - Midfielder
Brought in from Hinckley United in March 2002 with whom he won a Western Division championship medal. He started his career with Leicester before joining Yeltz boss Brendan Phillips at Nuneaton Borough.
Alex Cowley - Midfielder
Signed on loan from Stourport Swifts in March 2002. A skilful and versatile winger, his previous club was West Bromwich Albion.
Michael Gray - Midfielder
Michael joins Halesowen Town having been released by Tamworth over the summer. A left sided midfielder he started his career with Premiership Leicester City. He then moved to Sheffield Wednesday. A successful period at Bromsgrove Rovers followed before being snapped up by Rushden and Diamonds. He joined the club after a successful trial period in the summer and started on the bench against Gresley on the opening day but played a major role due to the injury to Lee Knight
Les Hines - Midfilder
Signed in the summer of 2000 Les seems to have won fans among the Yeltz faithful who voted him player of the season in 2000/1. Les started his career at Aston villa and played alongside Lee Collins, Lee Hendrie, Darren Byfield and Gareth Farrelly. Sadly he failed to make an impact at Villa but sparked interest from Kidderminster Harriers who signed him in 1999. Played a small role in Kiddy's promotion to the league. Released at the end of the 99/00 season and was snapped up quickly by John Chambers in August 2000. Showed great commitment during the abysmal 00/01 season under Moore and Chambers by travelling to and from Scunthorpe to play for Halesowen. However he may be pushed for a place this season with Jason Burnham, Ricky Otto and Aengus Martin pushing for places on Les' preferred left side.
Matthew Hall - Midfielder (ON LOAN AT REDDITCH UNITED)
A pacy right winger, I don't think we have seen the best of Matty during his short time spent at The Grove. Originally an apprentice with Rotherham United he was released by The Millers at the end of the 99/00 season and agreed terms with Western Division Redditch United. Snapped up by Brendan Phillips in the summer during his rebuild of The Yeltz.
Stuart Skidmore - Midfielder
Stuart started his career at Halesowen Town before making a switch to Causeway United in 1999. Returned to Halesowen in 2001, as Alan Moore's final, and arguably best signing. Won favour with current Yeltz boss Brendan Phillips who seems to prefer him as a right back although his natural role is in the middle of the park.
Neil Smith - Midfielder
Neil is now in his second spell at The Grove having returned from Dr. Martens Premier League side Stafford Rangers. Neil started his career at third division Shrewsbury Town but was released by the Shropshire outfit and joined Redditch United. From Redditch he joined league side Lincoln City but found himself back in non-league football with Cheltenham Town. Impressed Rushden & Diamonds in his spell at Whaddon Road and the Nene Park outfit made swept in to sign him. Was captain of the Diamonds when they won the Beazer Homes Premier League beating Halesowen Town to the title by a couple of points. Left Rushden for a short stay with Hednesford Town before being signed by Halesowen in July 1998. Was released at the end of the 99/00 season but within 6 months he was drafted in by Alan Moore to add some solidarity to Halesowen's midfield.
Mark Taylor - Midfielder
Mark started his career at Walsall back in 1984. He stayed at Walsall for 5 years making over 130 appearances for the Saddlers. Joined Sheffield Wednesday in June '89 for £50,000 but only made a handful of appearances and joined Shrewsbury Town for £70,000 in 1991. He made over 250 appearances for the Shrews before joining Conference outfit Hereford. In 2000 Brendan Phillips signed him for Nuneaton and in 2001 for Halesowen. Mark has made a good start to his Yeltz career looking very able and sharp in the centre of midfield.
Dennis Bailey - Forward
Now in his third spell with the club having re-joined from Tamworth in December 2001. Dennis is remembered for his hat trick for QPR against Manchester United at Old Trafford. He is still the last player to score a hat trick at Old Trafford. His other clubs include Gillingham, Aberystwyth, Birmingham City, Lincoln City, Farnborough, Forest Green and Cheltenham Town.
Andy Jones - Forward
Another escapee from Hayes Park, Andy is an energetic forward who has not featured much in pre-season or early season due to injury and holiday commitments. He is 20 years old and previously with Crewe Alexander.
Leroy May - Forward
Leroy started his career with Isthmian League side Enfield Town. His previous clubs include Kidderminster, Walsall, Hereford and Stafford. A summer signing he has been partnering Kerry Giddings, Lee Ross and Dennis Bailey up front in recent weeks.
Lee Ross - Forward
Signed from Bloxwich United in November 2001. Lee is a raw player but still very affective. His previous club was Ford Sports.
Gary Smith - Forward
Gary, an International with St. Kitts was signed from Tamworth in 2001. Previously with Worcester City, Paget Rangers and Sutton Coldfield.
Andy Spencer - Forward
A 21 year old midfielder, Andy made an impressive start to his Yeltz career by scoring three goals in his first three games, however his impact did not amount to anything as Halesowen were relegated. Signed from Boldmere St. Michaels he has previously played with Nottingham University. A versatile player he is able to play on the wing as well as up front.
